NFL Incentive

Hope the Texans do not offer too many incentive laden contracts because it breeds selfishness. Why did DD run for that TD against the Titans when he could have gotten the first down and just dropped to the floor??? Another example is Mike Vick (herpes man) who could have opted out of his contract and became a free agent if did not get new deal. Forced the Falcons' hand. In addition, why does Joey Harrington have 50 TD passes. What really pisses me off is that most of those TDs are of the 1 to 2 yard variety coming off bootlegs to FB Cory Shelsinger and Alexander. To increase Carr's TD passes, we should also run those plays near the goalline. DD has a ton of TDs near the goal line. :)

I like some incentive based compensation. Like make playoffs = this much money.

Money is the best motivator, but it sure would be interesting to see if we had a DD TD incentive and a carr Passing TD incentive who's incentive would get priority?

Probably because none of the coaches told him before the series began, "If you see a giant hole and can scamper 45 yards for a TD, don't do it"--or in other words excitement of the moment. Teams don't spend a ton of time with 4th round draft picks coming up with all sorts of potential incentives--those go to high draft picks and FA or 2nd contracts.

You score the TD because you don't know what is going to happen on the very next possession even if all you are going to do is neal it. Stranger things have happened.

It's hard for me to imagine DD or most players considering the incentives like that during the heat of the moment...
These players(mostly) score TDs because thats what they do. That's what they train for... that's the main goal of being out there on offense... Man, If I were an RB and had a chance to take one to the house for 40yds or so, I don't think there'd be anything else on my mind. I'm sure he wasn't told before the play not to score.

Why would you EVER want someone to drop to the floor???? That lack of a killer instinct is what separates the really good teams from the mediocre ones.

Would YOU stop and drop on the floor if you saw a touchdown right in front of you?

Domanick Davis ran that sucker 45 yards and scored because he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that every single Texans fan in the world would love to see the Tennessee Oilers down by one more score. It was a cold calculated move on his part to bring the fans to the very top of the mountain while at the same time breaking the hold that Tennessee had on us forever. He was right to do it too.

Or maybe he just had no idea that the hole would be that big.

It was one of those I'm sure.
