NFL FREE AGENCY 2025

Banking on a rookie to do that is not what I'd do.
I agree that the Texans must bring linemen in to compete with the incumbent group. Vets and rookies. Half of the playoff teams (7) had a rookie starter on the offensive line. A good rookie O-lineman can help even a good team. And continue to aid the team for years to come. Drafting for the offensive line is the safest investment a team can make.

Avg top for all lineman at 23m. Fries will be between 12-17m
Sign Daniels and Jenkins for 19-20 mil total and draft either Jackson/Zabel. Use Scruggs/Patterson as depth because one of Daniels/Jenkins most likely will miss games because of injury.

Right. I didnt say dont draft a rookie OL. I said i wouldnt draft one and bank on him to fill a role (something this team has done in the past) which is why Id grab some fa vets that a rookie would have to beat out.

Example : Fisher from last year. Some took drafting him as a sign that Tytus wasnt going to be available. At the time I said i hope and dont think thats the case that theyd neglect OT in FA knowing tytus wasnt going to be ready and elect to go with a rookie OT to protect Stroud in a season they came in with superbowl aspirations.

Same thing this year. Dont go into the draft with huge OL holes where rookies are pressed into action out of necessity rather than beating out solid competition.

I wouldnt complain of they drafted OL in every draft.

Jenkins has missed over 50% of games. Daniels got hurt this year, but he's been pretty durable
The 2 OL I want Caserio to sign in FA are Daniels and Noteboom and draft Jackson or Zabel. Fix the OL. Only thing that could change my way of thinking is if Loveland or Golden were on the board. I would pick one of those guys and hope a guy like Milum/ Jonah from Zona fell to the 2nd rd.

Or pick Sacramento St. Jackson Slater (he impressed me at the Senior Bowl/Combine) in the 3rd rd. Tough athletic dude. Looked like a very good pass blocking OG. Doubt Caserio picks a small school guy but he should pick this guy. Another 3rd rd guy I like is Anthony Belton, Big mauling dude that has decent feet for a guy his size. Want to run the ball? Run behind this dude.

Would you take Golden or Loveland? I would only give it maybe a 20% chance both are available at 25, but just for discussion, if you are Nick who do you take?

Yes I would.

Loveland will only fall to 1-26 because of a bad season last yr Bad QB play caused this and he separated his shoulder. It was a lost year. Look at his 2023 yr, he was a stud. I don't expect Loveland to make it past the Chargers. But they need WR's and CB's really badly, so I guess there's a chance.

Golden is a moveable chess piece. That would give the Texans their best WR corps since the Texans inception. If you like Golden, then Noel should be in play at 2-58.

I almost would rather spend a future pick and 3-89 to move up and pick Jackson, Taylor, Noel

OOPS!........

Bills say Michael Hoecht, Larry Ogunjobi will be suspended for PED violations

The Bills signed Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi as free agents this week, but neither of them will be able to help the defensive line for the early part of the 2025 season.

Bills General Manager Brandon Beane told reporters at a Friday press conference that both players are facing six-game suspensions due to violations of the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Both players will be able to participate in offseason workouts and training camp before serving those suspensions.

Beane said, via multiple reporters, that the team was aware of Hoecht’s suspension when they signed him, but that they were not aware of Ogunjobi’s ban.

Greg Rousseau, Daquan Jones, Ed Oliver, Joey Bosa, A.J. Epenesa, DeWayne Carter, Javon Solomon, Zion Logue, and Branson Deen are the other Bills defensive linemen.
