NFL DRAFT

Odds are staked against longevity in the NFL, that’s why teams hold off on extensions. It’s a business. Which is why it’s so shocking the Texans struggle here? All these bad extensions for sub par performance (prior to Caserio) contracts. God it’s been difficult, please give the fans a break... season ticket freeze would be appropriate since they’ve failed to deliver and ruining people’s dreams. Culley is not the answer. First in head coaching search and last to choose, and there were great ones to choose from. Payton is off the board in first so maybe Quinn Meinerz OG/C Wisconsin/Whitewater. Raw, competitive, resets base and anchors like nobody I’ve ever seen. Project for future but will be ready soon enough.

Winners
Jaguars - Finally have playmakers.
Chargers - Sat tight and got the 2nd best LT.
Titans - Got a steal with Farley at a need position
Steelers - Najee is the perfect fit for this offense. ROY.

Losers
Raiders - Mayock always reaching.
Patriots - Sorry, but Mac Jones is not the answer.
Niners - Lance may be the biggest gamble in the past decade of the draft. 3 1sts for this guy.
Dolphins - 6th overall for a gadget player?

Good overview. Think I’ll trust Shanahan going with Lance. Wish Texans had promoted him and fired Kubiak.

Culley is a placeholder.

Would love Mienerz.

I think the Chargers would do well to pick him.

The question for Caserio is at 67 do you sit tight and pick Mills? Do you pick BPA or do you trade down. I could see this going all kinds of ways.

Damn, Jags will have no excuse now - they picked up the best QB in the class, the best RB in the class and now if they want to they can pick up the best Safety in the class in Trayvon Moehrig.
Or they can trade back for more picks!
Ouch.

Nope...I'm not all that impressed with Lawrence..i see the measureables, but this will be the 1st time he doesn't have elite talent all around him & Meyer's offense will likely have him exposed with all the running expected. & the best RB in the draft is Najee Harris, not Etienne.

Lawrence can move around - he's pretty mobile for a tall guy but yeah, he will have to prove himself.
Etienne was graded higher than Harris and was touted as being a top two or three overall at one point.
We will see when they play in the big time.
Put it this way, they would look better in Texans unis rather than Jags.

With their draft picks I expect the Texans to serve us all a sandwich that rhymes with spit. We've been programmed that way.

I like Williams as much as those 2.

I've got Harris/Williams/Etienne in that order but they are very close.

The Clemson offense.

Is Lawrence going to be able to learn how to run a pro offense?

Now it gets interesting. I would say Trey Lance. Remember the Texans best offensive coordinator, Kyle Shanahan? What if Bob sat Gary down and released him and promoted Kyle?
Kubiak would still have a SB ring and Kyle would not.

I think he can..the problem i see with him is the expectations; he won't be able to live up to the HOF billing some think that he has. He'll be pretty good, but not MVP multiple SB's great imo. He has been touted as the best QB prospect to come out since Luck and i don't really see it in him...or him as a guy that will elevate those around him in the same way that Luck barely was able to do. In addition to that, i believe he has that same outlook on the game that Luck did, which saw him walk away from the game earlier than anyone anticipated. IOW's football isn't life for the kid and i could see him doing the same thing if it got a little too much for him..........Not that i don't believe he isn't a tough kid, I just don't get "gamer" vibes from him.

I can see this, the question is will he choose to play after he gets injured. For Luck the answer was no. This is still to be determined to see what Lawrence will do when injuries inevitably happen.

The Clemson offense does QB's no favors when it comes to being prepared to play QB in the NFL.

Luck played thru injuries, the problem with him was he was playing through them too much and it just wore him down. I can see Lawrence asking himself "is this really worth it anymore?" if he has something similar happen with him or he gets a little too beat up. 17 game seasons now + playoffs & he's not built as sturdy as Luck was. At Clemson he wasn't really hit consistently like he will be in the NFL. I don't think he holds up.

He will have to get with a professional S&C guy if he wants to hold up long term.

I bet they work on the OL today.

Bet 1 of the centers ends up in Pittsburgh.

I think, like Harris, a prototypical OL in the Steelers mold......Ben Cleveland (GA) who I’ve seen may move to C or could play RG in the NFL. Burly, strong, and nasty demeanor would check the boxes of former Steeler greats on the OL.

I could see MIA taking Meinerz (damn I want him). They coached him at the SB, so they were able to get intimate knowledge of how he responds to coaching and his work ethic.

For one, I don’t expect Meyer to run Clemson’s offense. I would fully expect him to add a few modified pieces of that offense to his playbook to ease TL’s transition to the pro game. I seem to remember the rookie records Watson broke when OB used some of Clemson’s playbook to help him adjust.

If folks on this board are thinking TL isn’t going to be that good.....you’re probably going to be sadly mistaken. This guy has the work ethic and tools to do very well in the NFL. I’m betting on Meyer to pull a Jimmy Johnson in his transition to NFL HC. It may take a season or two since the Jags wouldn’t be working with a H Walker type of trade but they do have the assets to make a splash this season and should have a favorable position next season before the real growth begins.

I could see Luck still QB’ing the Colts had they done a better job...sooner...than allowing their OL to get him killed for a pretty good stretch. I suspect the Jags are going to address needs on the OL now that they have their Franchise QB1 and RB.

At this point I think Green Bay is coming to the realization that they hired the wrong guy to be the GM.
I don't know if Aaron Rodgers is going to get his way but I don't know what they're going to do with the dead money as it will hurt Green Bay for more than just this season.

If we could trade DW to Philly for 2022 round ones (3), trade the lower two of those plus (?)to GB for Rodgers..then say Aaron, baby tell us what you want us to do with the Eagles own round one plus ours and we'll do it.

I just cannot see why Rodgers would come here.

Just a curiosity but two teams I have suggested trading Watson to:

Dolphins start Alabama QB Tua Tagovaila draft #6 Alabama WR Jalyn Waddell.

Eagles start former Alabama QB Jalen Hurts and draft #10 Alabama WR Devonta Smith.

Texans backup QB 2019 and 2020 Alabama QB. AJ Mccaron.

Your thoughts on the tackle Spencer Brown? & move Howard to guard. My other pick at #67, LB Pete Werner. I would love the big center Dickerson. Cornerback in the 4th.

Damn, Jags will have no excuse now - they picked up the best QB in the class, the best RB in the class and now if they want to they can pick up the best Safety in the class in Trayvon Moehrig.

Ouch.
The best QB in the class? I say he’s the most hyped. I agree with everything else though.

Interesting to consider, Vikings traded down and got 3.66 from Jets. Wonder if they take someone we want?
Another trade Bears up to #39 Kevin Jenkins OT

40. Falcons Richie Grant safety
41. Lions Onwusurike DT
42. Miami Liam Eichenberg OT Notre Dame May play right tackle as Tu'a is left handed.

picks coming quickly Raiders trade up.
