Nfl Draft Day 2

LOL, Mike Mayock is going to stab the stay puff marshmellow that is Jamie Dukes with his pen before this day is over. Book it! They brought in Schefter to spread them further apart.

I tend to agree with you. He looked like a great prospect until he just disappeared from the team later in the 2007 season. He's never been involved in criminal activity........that wasn't the problem. He had a severe problem with social anxiety and depression. Believe it or not, one of his major stresses that sent him over the edge was the barage of scouts calling him daily........said to be around 300. Because of privacy laws, the university was never able to explain his problem. [LINK]

This is player I would take a chance with for the potential returns, especially with the fine medical/mental care afforded by our Med Center.

- Brian Johnston DE 6-5, 280 Gardner-Webb
- Tommy Blake DE 6-3, 270 TCU
- Carl Nicks OT 6-5, 335 Nebraska (O)
- DeMario Pressley DT 6-2, 295 North Carolina State

I'd take any one of them if they fall.

Brian Johnston[LINK]..........

This season (2007), the senior Johnston was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year two years in a row, he recorded an impressive 74 total tackles, 37 being solo, a school and conference-record 24 tackles for loss, 6 quarterback sacks and 22 quarterback hurries. He finished ranked No. 2 nationally in tackles for loss on the season, and established new Big South Conference career records for sacks (20.5) and tackles for loss. Johnston finished his career as the top tackling defensive lineman in school history with 268 total tackles.

With the advent of the 34 defense in the NFL, those jumbo defensive ends like Johnston have been much sought after. Johnston has fought almost constant double teams, which is why his 6 sacks don’t look that impressive, but he has proven to be very solid against the run, despite being double teamed, his 74 tackles, 20.5 being for a loss, prove that he can fight through multiple blockers and get to the ball carrier. Very good at using his hands, strong and quick, Johnston plays the game with a non-stop motor. He will have to increase his repertoire of pass rushing moves and continue to train to get stronger and quicker in the NFL, but he has the raw talent and skills to warrant a 4th or 5th round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

I love the angle ESPN is taking with Campbell(sarcasm). Basically, if he doesn't get drafted he is shipped of to Iraq to die.

Not to comforting to his fellow classmates who don't play football who will get shipped to Iraq.

Well don't wait on that first step too long ...I thought Jake would make the sixeth and eagles snapped him up @ 131....Might be a time to move up. go get the guy. Put the kid on meds. let's roll the dice.

As painful as it is to say (because I'd prefer both of those teams to have really bad drafts), I think you're right.

Especiallly about the Pokes.

I'm just hoping the Titans' RB situation falls to pieces one way or another.

You are correct...all that and nothing more than the pressures of the preseason all american hype, and all the scouts...not to mention the prying media types. He is an upstanding kid who was overcome by all the hype and pressure. Coming to Houston would be a win win for this kid and us, he gets to stay near home and family/friends, and we get to see him get back on track and be a very good pass rusher.
 
Kubiak to be interviewed on ESPN after the 151 pick..........what does espn stand for anyway? Extra Special Pundit Network?
