NFL Championship Round Thread

Scooter

Funky
Matt Ryan, Kyle Shanahan and their arsenal of weapons vs Aaron Rodgers throwing for a mile. I think there are quite a few people that are looking forward to a 'first to 50' type game.

Wow. The Falcons' first drive had better design and creativity than I have LITERALLY seen from the Texans offense over the course of an entire season. I don't care how much of an a**hole Lil Shan is ... I need someone to put the Rounders .gif of 'Pay dat man hiz money'.

I should probably record this game and watch it later. Too much going on in the house, and it seems I've already missed a bit.

Not going to of course, but should lol.

I understand that big man was trying to fight for some tough yards on a really good run, but sometimes you need to realize the play is dead. Fighting for that small extra inch at times isn't always worth it when you already have a good play.

What a costly fumble that will very likely matter a lot at the end of the game when the score is close. No way that GB doesn't get a TD on that drive with how easily they marched down the field just now.

It looks like they decided not to cover Julio Jones... but the guy is just that good.

In the past 3 years as Texans, have we seen anyone so wide open? Walsh to Shanahan to Kubiak to Shanahan ... each time the scheme evolves it's insane and damn near unstoppable. To have Matt Ryan as the anchor for the next evolution is unfair.

One thing I really like that Atlanta does is they make a complete mess of their receiver formations. Stacks aren't just stacks, the back receiver can be 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. They are everywhere, an amazing form of chaos.

looks like Atlanta is trying to make Rodgers pay every time he throws the ball

I remember Kubiak's offense was big on "staying on schedule". Same with K.S.

Kubiak was also very heavy on first down. Second down was either a finisher or recovery. Meticulous and by the book, Kubiak knew what he wanted to do and that's what he did. Lil Shan is the same way ("this is how it's going to be"), but in a much more aggressive and arrogant way. That arrogance being quite deserved it seems.

I'm so jealous of this Falcons' offense. Staggered WRs, different formations, RBs in space, a QB in total control of the offense.

This game is far from over. You have to keep burying Rodgers more and more. A 24-0 lead against him or Brady is nothing.

Falcons better come out blazing to win like they're behind on the scoreboard in the 2nd half and spill more blood. Put that dagger in the Packers completely with more TD's.

Dude accepted a HC gig for the 49'ers. We would rather have O'Brien than Lil Shan?

STFU Lol!

How about giving Quinn some props as well since the Packers have zero points on the scoreboard from Rodgers.

Trying to make every NFL game about Bill OBrien and Mcnair as usual as if this has anything to do with them. Let me guess you are no longer a Denver fan, because Kubiak left them and you crossed over to the Falcons for lil Shanny? Lol!

24-0 at halftime in the championship game. Not throwing a Brinks truck at Lil Shann may be McNair's greatest mistake.
Yeah.... and to think we gave the little twerp his start as an OC....

I don't think the Falcons will take their foot off the gas until the two minute warning.

The Pack has had chances. They've just wiffed on them.

The Falcon's offense is truly a thing of beauty. Drops, runs for no gain - even their worst plays are are a work of art. Obviously those are few and far between, but when a drop happens with nobody within 6 yards - nice. I remember when we could get the #1 receiver in the league 15 yards away from the nearest defender (instead of the leading interceptions). Good times.

I'm going for the Falcons, so I hope so.

What I don't want to see is the "turtle" strategy, which you know I can't stand. :shades:

let me ask you this:
who would you rather have running our offense, O'Brien or K.Shanahan?
If it's Shanahan, I get it. I know that offense. We had it here.
If it's O'Brien, I'd like to know why.

Really sucks for Lang. Watching him in so much pain able to walk of the field really reminds me of other injured offensive linemen. The injuries that they are able to walk off the field with (and play with), what ungodly pain tolerance do these men have? Any other position is likely to get an ambulance for 2 busted knees and a spiral fracture ... offensive linemen just lean on a trainer half their size to the bench.

After the 2013 season, the Texans and the Falcons were in the same exact spot. Both teams expected to be Super Bowl contenders and both teams failed spectacularly. Perennial hype machine, perennial disappointments.

Two different franchise trajectories since then. The Falcons have rebuilt their team culture and roster into a Super Bowl appearance in an even shorter time than we've had our supposed savior, and our team remains a ******* joke and a clown show and still failing in the same exact ways as they have been for years.

But I guess it doesn't matter because of two divisional championships in a row or some ****.

Go Falcons. Especially against New England.

I kind of think a bit of luck played a difference between the two teams. The Falcons had a terrible 2007 year, end up with the #3 pick and take Matt Ryan. The Texans had the #1 pick in three seperate drafts where David Carr, Joey Harrington, Vince Young, Matt Leinart & Blake Bortles were the top QB's taken.

10-0 Pats after one.

I still have faith that Pittsburgh will get better as the game goes along, but 10-0 on the road in NE isn't an enviable position. The weather might be Pittsburgh's best ally with there running capability.

In the 3 seasons since 2013, the Texans have 3 winning seasons and 2 division titles, with some of the worst QB play in history. The Falcons have 1 winning season and 1 division title with a top tier QB. No doubt the Texans are laughing stock of the league and the worst team in history because they have only won the division 4 times in the last 6 years. You should root for a team more appropriate for you. I suggest the Browns, Jaguars, or 49ers. The Falcons wouldn't be good because they played over 40 years before they ever had 2 winning seasons in a row so you would have given up on them way before then.

I thought it was a "Brady call" but I admit I dislike Brady enough to take away some objectivity.

EDIT: This was in response to Wolf's post :)
