NFL 2015 Wild Card Games

The evilness of Suh-led Lions was worse than that of Jerruh.

Cowboys next to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field and Aaron Rodgers.

horrible, horrible, calls by the refs. Detroit Dline getting tackled right in front of officials and no call.

Yeah no joke, man this was the worst officiated game i had ever seen. You think maybe the NFL is rigged, the refs are beginning to make it look that way.

And that's why the Lions are 0-18 on the road

Why?? Good calls where the one time head of refeering agreed that a call on the field was the right PI call, then inexplicably the flag was picked up??

I guess the NFL feels like Dallas is a bigger money maker or ratings boom for the league than Detroit is.

I had no dog in that fight but that said, Detroit played a helluva game and should've had the opportunity to win or lose FAIRLY!

LOL, note who posted those.

Tony Romo doing some good self-scouting in his post-game presser. Love it when you hear these guys refer back to some event/game years before in comparison.

Yeah the refs blew some calls... nothing new there. They blow calls every game. Detroit had a chance to put it away early, then pull it out late but shot themselves in the foot. More than once.

Pool Report from the Detroit Lions-Dallas Cowboys Game with Referee Pete Morelli and Pool Reporter Todd Archer
Todd Archer: Can you talk about the decision to overturn the call and why you overturned the call?

Pete Morelli: The back judge threw his flag for defensive pass interference. We got other information from another official from a different angle that thought the contact was minimal and didn’t warrant pass interference. He thought it was face-guarding.

Archer: Which official?

Morelli: The head linesman.

Archer: What did you see?

Morelli: It’s not my responsibility. I’m a hundred miles away.

Archer: Face-guarding is not a foul?

Morelli: Face-guarding is not a foul. It is a penalty in college but not in professional football.

Archer: What is the process you go through after you announce the call? Should you have waited before you announced the call?

Morelli: Probably, yes. The information came and then the officials got together a little bit later, after it was given to me, the first information. It would have probably been smoother if we got together.

Archer: Do you remember this type of player happening before?

Morelli: No, not particularly.

Archer: So one more time on who the person was that had a better view?

Morelli: The better view was from the head linesman.

He's correct that face guarding is not an NFL penalty by the rules. Can't remember his name but the head of officiating before Perreira candidly admitted that was the case but in effect they made it as if it was the rule by policing contact more harshly if there was no play on the ball. Probably see a clarification in the offseason.

Seeman or Blandino?

Some rough calls, but you have to take care of your own business.

Cowboys had 4th and 6 with 6:00 to go and went for it.

Detroit had 2 1/2 minutes to drive and score and win.

I can fully understand face guarding on its own not being a penalty. However in this case the face guarding included contact that prevented the receiver (who was trying to come back for the ball) from attempting to make a reception (IMO).

You must be a Cowboy fan. It wasn't just that call, it was multiple calls that set up the winning TD drive by the Cowboys. This game was horribly officiated. If this wasn't a fix I don't know what is.

It was horribly officiated but it wasn't all one way. They didn't call Detroit for roughing the kicker. There was a critical 3rd down where Witten got 10 kinds of held with no call. They called offensive PI on Williams when they shouldn't, etc.

I know Houston fans want Dallas to lose every game for the next century but there were mistakes all over the place.

It was just a poorly officiated game, but it was there for Detroit to take

I agree with what you say, but from where I'm sitting that one play was different. It wasn't like they simply missed the call, they caught it, moved the chains, announced the penalty, THEN figured out a way to wrong the right.

Moreover, they missed a defensive hold on that play between the same two players and even more, allowed Dez Bryant to leave the bench so he could b!itch at the nearest ref, all without a helmet.

One play, four infractions, no calls. I think Detroit was so astounded by the stink of it they went for it on 4th and a long 1 when they really should have punted with a mere three-point lead.

Yes Witten should have gotten the call, I disagree with the running into the kicker, the Dallas player pushed the guy into his own teammate(and it was a 4th and 15 that would not have changed the out come of the game), and that was a good call on Williams, that was clearly a pick play.

Detroit didn't go for it on 4th down. They intentionally took a delay of game penalty and punted. The punt went a measly ten yards, though.

My bad. I forgot they were looking to draw them off. Thanks. :)

And yeah......10 freaking yards.....lol.

You're welcome. People can say what they want about the refs but the game came down to two 4th down plays (IMO). 4th & 1 for Detroit and they decide to punt. 4th & 6 for Dallas, at roughly the same spot on the field as Detroit faced, and they converted. If I was Garrett I would have punted and tried to pin Detroit with bad field position. Instead they get a huge play and end the drive with a touchdown.

If you squint hard enough the image turns into Tim Dobbins getting flagged for PI against a random tight end during the 2012 season.

Off-topic, but was that Chris Christie in the owner's box with Jerry Jones?

He probably alienated a whole bunch of Detroit fans as well as Giants, Philly and Washington fans who will now not vote for him.:uprights:

Yes, he has attended several games in Dallas as well as the one against the Giants. Some from NJ were upset about his open fan support and vowed to not vote for him in the next election, not about politics but football. Gov. Perry was there as well. Didn't see the Bush's but have been in attendance at a number of games.

The Dallas/Detroit officiating crew was horrible. The playoffs and SB are supposed to be the best of the best officials. They've got a lot of work to do if they consider that crew one of the best.

The playoff crews are not regular season crews. They are thrown together from the best iirc 72 refs in the league. They do not normally work together.

If they vote for - or against - a person based on what football team he cheers for instead of his/her policies, then they'll get what they deserve.

The dude just had his stomach stapled because some folks won't vote for a fat guy. So yeah...

I bet they get exactly what they deserve. :bender:
People use dumber reasons to vote for candidates.

I HATE that my Bengals faltered yet again in the wild card game yesterday. To say it's all on Dalton is off based. He's certainly part of the problem, but when you have zero pass rush against a QB like Luck, it's never going to end well.

I love the season they had, but was really surprised they made it that far at all.

If the Texans went into a playoff game with their top two WR's, TE's, and LB's, what would you expect the outcome to be ?? We were missing AJ Green, Marvin Jones, Jermaine Gresham, Tyler Eifert, Rey Maualuga, and Vontaze Burfict. That's a hell of a lot of starters to have to make up for. Seeing our practice squad RB, who was brought up for the game, get more targets than any of the WR's not named Sanu is crazy.

I think Dalton and Lewis need to be upgraded, but neither will be going anywhere in 2015. Lewis' contract goes through next season and Mike Brown loves him. Dalton's contract allows them to move on from him easily after next season, but not so much this one.

Looking forward to seeing a couple of my Army buddies come up for the Texans and Bengals game next season. Hoping you guys have a good offseason.

Had Cleveland beat Baltimore, the Texans would have gone in to the playoffs with the 4th string QB and Arian Foster limping around with his injured hamstring.
Our chances would not have been good but we would have certainly had a better pass rush on Luck.

Was that the real reason? I mean, he wasn't "fat" when they voted him in as gov...?

National stage. He didn't come out and say it but one of the immediate responses to his toe dipping into the Presidential conversation was he's too fat to get elected. And then he goes out and gets his stomach stapled. Of course officially it was for health but yeah, that was the real reason.

Nfl just came out and said defensive holding should have been called

That will fan the fires but like I told a friend yesterday. Even if they say the call was wrong. It isn't like they can line up again and replay

Lions needed to take care of business when they had the chance
