I would love to read replies to this thread..

The Panthers and Cowboys are in the wrong divisions...

I am a fan of change...

Everytime I play Madden franchise modes I put the Panthers and Cowboys where they BELONG !!!

Panthers - NFC East

Cowboys - NFC South

I think any thing from Texas should be in some kinda south division

I think some people was smoking good crack rock when they decided where these two teams where going...

:loser

Dallas vs Washington
Dallas vs Philly
Dallas vs NY Giants

or...

Dallas vs Atlanta
Dallas vs Tampa Bay
Dallas vs New Orleans.

Yeah, that's a real toughie there.

When divisional alignments were first done (sometime during the 1960's), Dallas managed to get themselves put in the NFC East (for the purpose of having more "marquee" matchups); the NFL won't realign a team without its consent; hence, the Cowboys still remain in the NFC East to this day...

Personally, I don't like it either...

How much further west is Dallas than Kansas City or St. Louis? Wanna guess which divisions they play in? Does the AFC/NFC West disturb you as much? Why is Indianapolis in the AFC South? Last time I checked, Indiana was pretty far north.

The league wanted/needed to realign but they wanted to keep their historical rivalries in tact. They succeeded.

I would rather have the Saints in our division than the Cowboys. Raod trips to New Orleans are always more fun than road trips to Dallas.

Look back at the NFL in 1970 right after the merger. You had:
NFC East
Dallas
NY Giants
Philadelphia
St.Louis (Cardinals) - M
Washington

NFC Central
Chicago
Detroit
Green Bay
Minnesota

NFC West
Atlanta
Los Angeles (Rams) - M
New Orleans
San Francisco

AFC East
Baltimore (Colts) - M
Buffalo
Miami
New England
NY Jets

AFC Central
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Houston (Oilers) - M
Pittsburgh

AFC West
Denver
Kansas City
Oakland
San Diego

Now remove the teams that have moved from the list. Notice that the NFC West is the only division that has not retained the same teams? It made sense to split that one up since you had two pairs of teams on each coast. Otherwise they kept the other 5 division the same (with both the former and current Browns remaining in the AFC Central/North). The NFL wants to maintain these very long term rivalries.

That is why they didn't flip-flop Dallas and Carolina or Miami and Indianapolis. Heck they probably could have put Pittsburgh in the AFC East, Indi in the North and Miami in the South. Who in their right mind would separate the Steelers from the Browns?

I would hate to see Dallas move to another division. The NFC East is the best division in sports. Every team is blood thirsty toward each other. Very entertaining.
It would be horrible to see Dallas play teams like New Orleans or Tampa Bay two times a year.
