Where did u get this mock from...they dont even have Tony Taylor as a draftee. That's just one player I checked to see where he was selected.

that'd be a pretty ridiculous draft for miami. posluzny and carriker? i'd faint. and kevin kolb in the 6th. that'll do.

That's a great effort TX. But again, and I think you're a little light on them, if the Texans don't grab the OLT prospect with the first pick...they're gone. Which means you're picking between starting the season with the grey beard out there once again or doing the free agent thingy again. What was the guys name Tucker ? Wade ? Bosselli ?

Liked the Texas Tech Center/Gaurd. And agian you hit all the needs. With out the OLT it's a bucket with a biiiiiig hole in it. JMHO. Ramerez's veristillity might push him into the second. Think depending on wich WR's declare, this will be an o-lineman draft.

Actually Gaither potential is way better then Thomas and Ferguson who was picked 4th last year. But as of this date we don't know if Gaither will declare for the draft or not. He is Junior at Maryland.

Bull Dung. Gaither is a Right Tackle currently playing right tackle. For all of his warts, Weigert is ok. Thomas IS the lock. You can't say that about the Maryland kid. He's good and he moves well. But no one knows for sure he can transition untill he does it. I know Eric will work his way into a legitamate nfl RT. I don't know I can post the same thing about Gaither at OLT. And...neither do you.

Gaither will be a studly LT and has been predicted to play LT in the NFL. He is a mamoth at 6'9 345ish but runs a sub 4.8

That is quick. He has long arms and didn't give up a sack to some of the absoluote best DE's in the ACC and the NFL. Winston will be our RT. I think Spencer will find himself at a OG post-injury and I don't think Gaither would have any trouble taking the starting job from him when he is/was healthy. You have to understand this, Gaither is the best LT prospect period. Thomas is more polished now, but Gaither will be better and has much more potential.

345lbs is a very big man. I am not too familair with him, but maybe you8 can shed some light on this. What kind of college system did he play in? My understanding of the Kubiack system is that you use lighter guys in order to emply different shifts. If that is correct, I am not sure if 345lbs would be considered "light" and I am wonder would he fit into the team philosophy? Now, I will grant you that Spencer is a big boy, I dont believe he is near 345.

Also, I was under the impression that Spencer would be the RT and Winston the OG. Has this changed?

Ive never seen the guy. Would u put him in the same catagory with Ogden/Pace?...

He is a mamoth but has sub 4.8 speed. That is a big guy moving really fast. He last long arms and is a mamoth in run blocking as well as not giving up any sacks while facing the best DE's in all of college.

taking offensive lineman early does not seem to be Kubiaks M.O. (we all know by now the snubs and pass overs). Guys that seem to excell right away are the ones taken by the better teams later in rd. 1. I'm guessing because those teams have a stronger supporting cast. Now while the Texans line is banged up, thin on depth and career over achievers (late picks) there is leadership and a closeness that takes time yet is developing. I'd almost bet they draft another lineman but not until the 3rd rd. again, if you think otherwise your just setting yourself up for dissapointment :crying:

He is closer to Pace than any prospect since. D'brick was closer to an Ogden type. Gaither is like Pace. Dominant and HUGE while being super quick with long arms. Gaither will be better than Thomas, but Thomas is more polished from experience. Thomas is just tapping potential and has already dominated for 2 years.

I'm aware of this, and it does upset me, but our team still needs the dominate LT to help shore up our O-line. Anyone think the Jets are going to have a bad O-line in a year or so with D'brick and Mangold. There is no OC as good as Mangold, but Gaither is better than D'brick.

If Spencer cannot,or if at the time he looks doubtful to play next year there is no way we cannot seriously consider an OT in the first or second rd. I personally would like to LB,DB,RB,OL,DB,DT,K, but injuries and other factors will probably swing it in a whole other direction. And if you were wondering which RB I would like to see us get it is Kenny Irons out of Auburn.

kenny irons has been banged up this year and I dont feel he has the thought processive to work in our offense or can find cutback lanes.

Look for the Texans to take a OT on the first day, though maybe not the first
round.
Lot of uncertainty about Spencer, and that uncertain won't be resolved until
after next years Draft.
But Big Spence could play RT if we'd end up an outstanding LT prospect who
the team wants to leave there. Or Spence could just as easily play guard, the
position he played for a year in college before moving to OT

Also Gaither played LT last year and did not give up any sacks to some pretty big named prospects. He also has a 36" vertical leap, pretty impressive for a 345 lbs man child. I would not be upset if he is our 1st round pick, Spencer can be moved as well as Winston. That is a good problem to have in my mind.

I am hoping we go defense the entire 1st day, but a OLT in the 1st I could buy into. Also would not mind taking Brian Leonard in the 2nd. Still think the plan should be to concentrate on the defense.

And this is where we part company on Gaither...for those who care. I've got him down as a monster RT prospect.....with a chance to make the transition to OLT. YTF has him a lock.
Noonne is a lock in my book untill I see them do it. He is anexcellent prospect. But that much money, you're paying for an OLT not a right tackle.

I dunno Beerlover. Offensive guy passing up the two offensive studly guys last year ? You may well be right. The hisorty of the thing (Denver) is deffinatly on your side. Historically Denver has never drafted o-lineman early. My thinking is this coach does what this coach think is best. Right now, I believe the biggest leak in our bucket is the 0-line. In our fifth year, we don't have an anchor yet. Not banging on our most steady o-lineman Pitts. I believe this coach is going out there this year...hold his water on the pretty guys...and draft the big ugly. We'll see. I have hope. Keep hope alive.

I like Leonard alot. But whatching him the last three games...might want to see him run at the combine befor you spend a second on him. Might be a function of being banged up...I dunno...just saying.

Early for 2007 draft late to this thread...

I think Texans will be looking at LaRon Landry with their #1 pic to shore up the weak secondary. Currently the weakest link on the team/defense. Unless of course Calvin falls to them. If not Landry maybe Michael Griffin with the 2nd RD pic. Micheal Bush would also be a good 2nd RD pick. Doug Free OT is a good possibility with the 3rd RD pic.

Just did a little re-checking...all the pronosticators have Landry rated around 12 to 18 now. Smells like a Babin pick to me @ 5-8. Just saying.

I keep hearing all this talk about Gaither. He didn't even make 2nd team all acc. Also he was moved back to RT when Heyer returned from injury. I doubt he is coming out.

Leon Hall will be a good pick but I really think we need to draft a O-lineman for the first pick. Carr desperately needs help and our runningbacks will develop if our line can open up some holes. But who's available?

I actually put down Jake Long (Michigan) for that pick but I changed it to Hall cuz I thought that #7 would be reaching a little bit for him.

IMO our O-line get beat as often as our secondary, in relation.

I really think we need to go FS or OL with our 1st pick. I would support a trade down if we can get a partner. LaRon Landry and Reggie Nelson are the only two I think would be worth the pick but i dont know at 7. I also don't think the other OL prospects are a #7 pick either...Thomas yes but the others warrant a trade down. we have a lot of holes.

I'd take LaRon or Reggie with that seventh pick. It fits a serious need and isn't so far ahead of his projection where as it would be a reach, especially considering our need for a player at the position.

Joe Thomas isn't going to be available at seven, so we would have to go a different route. Is their any OL we could get there at good value? I'm not sure about that. It seems like we could do that in a later round. As for the FS position, if we passed on them here, there would be a significant dropoff of talent in the position by the next time we pick. This also would entice teams to grab a safety early so they are sure to get one causing most of the talented safeties to be taken in the first couple rounds.

I think Safety over OL would be a more sound decision at that seven spot.

Safty is a huge need. 7 is a huge reach IMO for either FS prospect. Nelson will prove to be a better pro, but still doesn't warrent that pick. Once you get to like 12, then you can start to reach for that FS a bit IMO.

No, Thomas will not be around past #4. Gaither probally won't declare, which sucks, but eh, se la vi. That puts us into a quandry of uncertianty. Which OTs have the best chance to be value or even BPA at #7 overall if we are to assume our pick stands? The most physically gifted OT is probally not declaring, Thomas will be gone as well. Levi Brown is not worth the pick regardless of how you try to spin it. Sam Baker is like Winston Justice last year and is already starting his decent. Jake Long is overrated, but good. Not worth top 10 however. None of the players I pray Kubiak has targeted at this point are worthy of #7, and are too far a reach for justification. A true FS won't be available in the 2nd round, so it is then up to our GM to blindly guess with the help of his staff and prior history, as to how far we can safely trade down. We tried it once before, and the thought scares me some, because instead of DJ or Brown we landed TJ. We became arrogant and came up with grass in our helmets.

That's what I am thinking. It is too difficult to trade and get who you want. If we picked at 7 I think we would have to reach on someone/overpay them. Honestly I predict Landry to go before the 11th selection, especially if Reggie Nelson does not declare.

Your top 3 are pretty much how they should be, but you seem to have a man-crush on Carriker in past posts as well. He is not a top 5 player. He is a late first rounder at best. Awesome pick for us, Revis is the best man to man CB available and has good size and speed. I doubt Ginn goes to Minn w/the other WR from Troy they drafted. The rest could happen, though I don't see Brown grading out that high but I do think Buffalo is stupid enough to reach for him there.

carriker is really good. aaaaaand im not the only one to think so. :) vikings fans seem to think they'll take a WR, and i have no reason to think otherwise.

Carriker @ #4 would be a HUGE REACH (only listed as the 4th best DE in the upcoming draft). Gaines Adams is the more likely pick should Tampa go DE :)

Many 3-4 teams are looking at Adams to convert to OLB.

Most of the list I see have Carriker in the mid 20's, sorry even Buffalo doesn't reach that much. (referring to the reaches the Bills made in the last draft).

Tampa plays a 4-3 Gaines would be an excellent option @ DE. He has the size 6-5, 260 lbs NFL teams like in a pass rushing DE, would actually make a nice compliment to Mario Williams (teams would have two use double tightend sets to chip away the Texans ends). reminds me alot of Freeney, I can't see a team picking top 5 would PROJECT him to play a different position :twocents:
