Right on phantom 17! You don't have to apologize to anyone for your opinions or feelings about Mario or the team! You have a right to express yourself on this MB just like they do. The Texans could win 10 Super Bowls with Mario and he could go to 10 Pro Bowls and some people would still think we made the wrong choice! You just can't please everybody!

So, from one :homer: to another, :gotexans1

Hey insideop- thanks 4 the kind words!:) :mario:

Reverse it then... I knew it was one way or the other. And you've been to over 60? Bud must LOVE you. :stirpot:

Just giving you grief, TackFan

Well yeah, we're PSL holders. But we're not supporting Bud, we're supporting everyone else.

Kyle Turley = Hasn't Played in the NFL since '03 = Owned Mario

Sorry buddy, but you are wrong. I was carefully watching Mario when he was against Turley, and he never got "owned". He was double teamed, and on one play.... triple teamed.

Other than that, Mario did change the course of two or three plays. As I have explained before, he turned what would have been an 8+ yard gain to the outside into a 2 yard gain. His presence itself was enough to attack the Chiefs running game.

Besides, what does any of it matter? The defense that had Mario held the Chiefs to only 172 yards, and that leads the NFL in the preseason thus far. Also, the Texans running game without Reggie Bush has far outperformed the Saints. So far, Wali Lundy has made me think "Reggie who?".

Titan "Tack" Fan said:
No they aren't. Saints fans couldn't be more happy that the Texans passed on Reggie. Find one Saints fan who doesn't want Reggie ... not gonna happen.

You must've had a real hard time following the other kids in school.....

of course we do have the :sarcasm: thing for people like you, so maybe it's not all your fault.

Mario Williams: 0 tackles
Reggie Bush: 60 yards

uh.... you forgot to mention the Cheifs were held to 172 yards of total offense...

we got what we paid for......

Does anyone know why Turley hadn't played in 2 years?? anyone?? anyone?? Bueller??

Back problems and probably a bad reputation for attacking Mike Martz... although why that would give one a "bad" reputation is beyond me. But his anger management issues are a real question... although, again, I want my tackle ripping the helmet off of someone trying to hurt my QB... but that's just me...

If I'd seen this thread sooner I'd have flushed it on sight. People talking about Reggie Bush need to cart their collective butts over to the NFL forum because last time I checked he wasn't a Texan and that's what The Bull Pen is for.

I am a native Houstonian who relocated to NO several years ago and was recently re-located back to Houston by my company due to the hurricane Katrina last year, and consider myself both a Saints fan and a Texan fan.Just wanted to get that out of the way. Ok, loved the zone blocking scheme implemented by Kubiak, I've seen it work in Denver, mad props. Loved the combination of speed, power, agility and plain old toughness and tenacity demonstrated by the rookie rb. Sage Rosenfelz(spelling?) seemed shaky at first, but soon settled in to put on a demonstration of leadership that reminded me of Troy Aikman-don't get me wrong-I'm not saying he's the next Troy Aikman or anything like that, I'm just saying he remained calm and demonstrated true leadership on the field, which is what the Texans sorely need. Alas, David Carr was the same old David. On the run from the snap, throwing into coverage, locking on to one receiver, last night it was Eric Moulds underneath. So, here we are-tough schedule ahead. I have a feeling it's gonna be a long season. So, now I guess I'm gonna go to the Saints board and gloat.:mario: Mario who? Did he play last night?

All I know is that if the Texans played the Saints in a regular season game...the Texans would win easily :tease:

Tack, regardless of where you live or who you support, you're alright. Like I said, just giving you grief. Don't take it personal.

Here, Here! I would think that would include VY too.

Anybody hear the caller "Byron" on 610 this morning? "Byron" are you on this board?

Yes, he really pissed me off. :challenge

He's probably not smart enough to work a computer. So he's probably not on the board.

Can I please have the last five minutes of my life back?! Part of being a mod means reading troll threads, and man, it's tough!

Look, anyone with any degree of football knowledge and understanding of it's history realizes that defensive ends don't just hit the league with an impact. It is a position that takes time to learn, adjust, and fine-tune techniques.

I'm not an anti-Bush guy. The dude is a human highlight reel. But, it is my objective opinion that Mario Williams will still be on his upside when Reggie Bush is a has been. Defensive ends get better with maturity, meaning Williams will be much, much better 3-4 years from now.

Reggie Bush, on the other hand, is as good as he's going to get right now. The Saints have to capitalize immediately, because the reality is that their star might only shine a few years before fizzling out. It's the reality of running backs in the NFL. You run them into the ground and then get a new model. Only a lucky few survive to long, productive careers, and most of them are on teams with winning traditions (which would obviously exclude the Saints).

So...Bush is the Ferrari: He'll get sidelined here and there with the ticket (injury) and will be driven so hard that you'll have to replace it after a few years and get the latest and greatest new model. In the long run this will cost you a lot.

Mario is the Dodge Ram/Chevy Silverado: You can count on it for many, many years. It will always get you out of a tough spot and can help pull those other vehicles out of trouble. This is the more economical way.

It would be downright Anti-Texan to consider wanting one of them flashy Euro-sportscars over a truck.

Actually, the troll thread is honest. There are lots of boneheads who just see the Texans as an excuse to rehash Reggie stuff. Listening to national and local sports talk, you get a lot of that.

So, I decided to write down the definitive answer to the Mario-Bush comparison BS in the blog. Some of the stuff in there will be familiar to y'all, and I put some stuff you might not of seen before.

So, next time you have somebody troll you that way, you can just reference the link:

Link: Preaseason hysteria: Mario v. Bush comparisons

The next blog post should be less about emotional goofiness and more about football.:redtowel:

Heh. I made a sports car-tank comparison in my blog post.

Texans would probably prefer tanks too. :cowboy1:

Personally, the media's going to say what they're going to say. Other teams fans are going to say what they're going to say. There's obviously nothing we can presently do about it. So why do we bother reponding or even attempt to prove to them why we did what we did? Sure, it ticks me off to hear people talk poorly of my team, but there's nothing I can do about it. All we can do is sit back, give them a "whatever" and watch how things pan out within the next couple of years. I don't think it's worth the time and effort to argue with people about it. Anyways, I'll step down now.:soapbox:
