new mock from draftsite.com

http://www.draftsite.com/nfl/2010mock.htm
has juniors and seniors

16 Joe Haden* CB 5'11" 228 Florida
48 Jeff Owens DT 6'3" 300 Georgia
80 Ben Tate RB 5'11" 211 Auburn
112 Walter Thurmond III CB 6'0" 175 Oregon
144 Chris Todd QB 6'4" 210 Auburn
152 Justin Cole DE 6'3" 240 San Jose State
176 Barry Humphries OG 6'3" 295 Clemson
208 Riley Cooper WR 6'3" 215 Florida

Cherry pick

16 Toby Gerhart RB 6'1" 235 Stanford
48 Vince Oghobaase DT 6'6" 312 Duke
80 80 Sergio Render OG 6'3" 320 Virginia Tech
112 Dan Doering OG 6'6" 300 Iowa
144 Dan Williams DT 6'3" 312 Tennessee
152 Andre Dixon RB 6'1" 208 Connecticut
176 Robert Johnson S 6'3" 190 Utah
208 Gerald Williams OLB 6'4" 245 Tennessee

Gerhart will give you a beast at RB. Oghobaase and Williams add size to the DTs. Render and Doering might not start their 1st year but they will in a year or two, and they have lot more upside than Studdard. Add Caldwell at OC and that should be a stud OL.

Dixon because you never have enough RBs.

I know, no safeties early and no CBs. I need size up the middle and the best way to do that is draft it.

There is no way I would take your draft over the original one proposed. Joe Haden is the best CB in the draft and makes plays on the ball with good size. It's basically a need pick. I like Gerhart, but I don't really think he's an NFL starter. Good guy to have, but not a first round RB. I'm also a big fan of Tate. He's having a monster year in the SEC. I've seen the Duke DT in person, and I just wasn't impressed. I also don't want anything to do with VT O-linemen. I'm still upset.

I like your thinking, but I believe that our real OL probs are duye to personal. Perhaps we need a RB too, but Peterson would struggle behind our line. Thats why I advocate taking 2 interior lineman(2 OGs or 1 OC and 1 OG). Vince O has not looked good at all this year. He has only 6.5 tackles and 2.5 sacks all year. Granted he has been hurt, but he just has not put it all together this year. He will need a good combine to get back up, but as of now, he is a 3-5th round prospect in my mind. Dan Williams is a nice pick, but I see him going in the late 1st-mid second round. He is a stout NT and with more and more teams going the way of the 3-4 NTs are a premium position. I mean in a 3-4 the most important position is your NT. Look at how the Jet D struggles without Kris Jenkins. Now think back to our 3-4 with Dom Capers. Without a solid NT your 3-4 is in trouble.

I like Gerhart alot. He had a great night last night. Reminds me of John Riggins. Now is he worth the 16th pick? That is to be seen, I do not see him dropping to our pick in the 2nd, but he could. Eric Winston drop to our 3rd round pick and I never saw that coming.

I think Gerhart is a late 1st early 2nd round type guy.

As for taking a CB in the 1st, I am for us going defense in the 1st so give me a either a Safety, a WILL or a CB in the 1st. Or trade down.

I'm with you but Smithiak could draft a CB in the 4th rd that could = Duntas production.

How about building an awsome offensive football team.

As f now this team has nothing they can hang their hat on.

Dont believe me which Texan team would you rather have on the field when it's 3rd and 2?

I dont feel comfortable with either. BTW

Smithiak have had 4 yrs to decide and it hasn't happened yet. How many years are enough?

Make up your minds which unit is going to be dominate or get the he** out.

I am having same problem. I think Oline needs adjusting and I am picking a ZBS guard in round two to replace Studdard immediately and a center (5th)to replace Myers late next season with Caldwell remaining at RG. Brisiel is a backup. This strengthens the oline and I am leaning towards Jonathan Dwyer in first. I don't care about the college scheme he runs in, he goes to the end zone like a tank on nitro and has been consistent all 3 years. Gerhart is great and I loved his 205 yds on 29 carries this week. I can't figure out where he will go and I don't want to miss on my back. If we drafted late first due to trade down, he'd be my guy.

Good choice going to the OG in the second.

Dwyer is a good back, but I am going to come out and say it now: Gerhart will be the better back. Dwyer has the speed, yes. But what you said about Dwyer "to the end zone like a tank on nitro" is doubly true for Gerhart. The man has 26 TD's. 26! And thats in a pro style offense. Dwyer has 12.

I watch his last performance last game where he had 29 carries and 205 yards. That one reception was over 30 and the game before he had another for over 20 I believe. I want to draft with value and no one has Gerhart going in top two rounds and many not until 4-5. I do not want to wait til later and hope someone is there but get my guy for sure. My only neg thought on Toby is the competition compared to Georgia Tech? If I could get Gerhart, Asamoah and a good CB If be ecstatic regardless of what round. I think a free safety and DT can be had after 3rd round. DO you think Dunta will be here next year? Kubes stated DR did well against Colts but I have not been impressed all season. Seems like he is too far off the WR for me.

Gerhart wont enter the draft if he does not get a 1st day grade. And he will. I am advocating for a trade down, mid to late 20's. I just think Dwyer will not be as good as Gerhart. I dont care about where people say he will be drafted. People did not think Chris Johnson would be taken that early either, now look. Level of competition is a concern, but it is with all college kids. I think that he has the skills to compete and excel at the next level.

I would ecstatic with a Gerhart- Asamoah- CB/FS draft. And you are right, I dont think DRob will make the team next year. I would love to see a Haden - Gerhart- OG draft, but I dont know. We need to wait for the draft position to all shake out.

I would love to trade down and get another significant pick as draft deep in what we need, but doubt we will have another scenario where we got Duane Brown, Slaton and a CB (Molden?)
I have us at 15 so a Haden CB in first, Gerhart in 2nd and Alabama OG Mike Johnson in 3rd? You don't think Gerhart will come out if NFL rates him as a 2nd round? I'll settle (smile) for Gerhart in 1st; Asamoah 2nd and a CB that might start, Jerome Murphy or my guy Kyle Wilson from Boise State.

I like DT Mike Neal as I've posted 6'4" 304 but 4.96 speed. Has at least 5 sacks 2009. Have not seen him play yet but may be a guy to work in. If we can get Asomoah in 2nd and a center like Thomas Austin in 5th. Wow. I can't find link but a Walter's mock guy said someone had Austin as the best center nationally going into 2010.

Haden- Gerhart - Johnson would be a sick as hell first day, without trades. I am sorry, I meant Gerhart would not come out if he was not first day, top 3 rounds. He has an injury RS available, and he has baseball as an option.

McNeal and Austin would be good mid round picks. There is definite potential in this years draft; the Texans need to take advantage of that.

Do you think Kubes will still be here? if he's not would they pick up Matt Schaubs option year? never thought it would come to this but the Texans may need to draft a QB in the first round......:kitten:

I dont know anymore... I hope not. He sounds like a good guy and all, but the team is stagnate. But we need to make sure we can get a legit coach, someone who can really motivate the players.

I dont see a quarterback being drafted in the 1st. Schaub has played (mostly) well, maybe a middle round guy if the new coach is a little hesitant.

Joe Haden is an absolute stud at CB. You don't see many college corners that have those kind of instincts. Some guys just know how to play the position and he's one of them.

Another guy I'm looking at is Earl Thomas at Texas. He's just a (RS) SOPH so with Mack's track record I expect him to come back for at least another season, but if he does come out he would fall right into our pick range from 14-19. Thomas at FS and Pollard at SS would instantly transform this defense.

Also, just a thought, but if you're interested in a WILL LB then how about taking Rolando McClain from Alabama. He is just a junior right now, but by all accounts he's coming out this year. The problem with taking him is that he's purely a MLB, but I've just recently begun thinking about it and if we could grab him then we could move Demeco to WILL and have McClain play MLB with Cushing at SAM.

I know people are reluctant to move Demeco outside because of his success early in his career, but I feel it would benefit him and the defense and also McClain is an absolute beast at MLB. If you haven't seen him play please, please watch him. He makes all the calls for the Bama' defense (no small feat mind you) and he's as talented a MLB as I've seen in college in years. Just a thought.

I would love to have them draft Kellen Moore in 2011

This draft is loaded with LB's. Rolondo has been at the top of my list all year. I watch him every chance I get. It has been said he is good enough to play OLB but I dont think that he could in the pros. If you watch the Auburn game they kept him out of the game by going to the outside alot. Hes not the same player when chasing down plays. He is as pure an ILB as you will ever see.

At ILB there is also Brandon Spikes ILB 6'3 252 Florida, despite the eye gouging incident he is an absolute stud that will be an instant starter in the pros and Micah Johnson ILB 6'2 256 Kentucky who is a thumper type who excels at plugging the lanes and shutting down the run.

At OLB there are some really nice prospects. If we stay with Kubiak and the 4/3 Sean Weatherspoon OLB 6'1 245 Missouri would give us the best LB crew in the NFL IMO. He's not a monster hitter but he flies around and makes plays all over the feild and most importantly, he is great in pass coverage. In the last 3 years he has had 375 tackles 40 TFL 11 1/2 SK 17 PBU and still has a game to play.

There are a couple of other notworthy's as well in Sean Lee ILB 6'2 235 Penn State who is an ILB but IMO will be a good OLB in the pro's and Eric Norwood OLB 6'0 257 South Carolina.

The ones that really excite me though are the 3/4 OLB's. If we do change coaches and switch to a 3/4 there are many options available that would make the transition a smooth one. Derrick Morgan will be a great one, Sergio Kindle, Greg Hardy, Corey Wootton, Jerry Hughes, Brandon Graham, Antonio Coleman, Ricky Sapp all look like they can play.

Just found the following on NFl draftscout.com on Guard Mike Johnson & it does concern me. He may not fit our ZBS if that is what we run next year.

Though he's generally a strong player, he had trouble keeping his feet when drive blocking and moving smaller defenders when pulling out to the edge. That relative lack of athleticism may put him a distant third to Idaho's Mike Iupati and Illinois' Jon Asamoah on top of the senior guard rankings. Johnson has the stage next week in the SEC Championship Game vs. Florida, however, to show scouts the Iron Bowl performance was an aberration. - Chad Reuter, Th

A lot of good options there, but I do not like Brandon Spikes. He's a thug plain and simple IMO. And I'm not just talking about the "eye gouging" incident. He's been like that his whole career.

If we went LB I think McClain is the best LB in the draft. He's an absolute stud. Other than that I wouldn't mind grabbing Witherspoon, who is built to play weakside LB.

Pretty much my top 3, other than Berry because we won't be able to get him, would be . .

1. Joe Haden, CB, Florida
2. Rolando McClain, MLB, Alabama
3. Shawn Witherspoon, OLB, Missouri

Grabbing either Haden or McClain in the 14-19 range (where we will probably finish) would be a steal IMO. It's a little early for Witherspoon, but if he can play up to his potential it would be a steal too. The only thing is that we are loaded at LB right now despite our need for a top flight WILL LB.

I said weeks ago this guy is a joke. I took him off my list after the second Bama game I watched. He is horrible. I cant beleive people who have watched him play are still talking about him. I watch Bama every chance i get to see Rolondo McClain, Arenas and Cody. When they are on offense I cant help but watch #78 Johnson. I always come away very unimpressed.

He would never make it under Gibbs. He just doesnt hustle enough and he doesnt have a killer instinct.

I'm not a big fan of him either. When he was forced to slide outside last year against Utah he was dominated by what should be viewed as lesser competition. The O-line for 'Bama also has not been that great this year without Andre Smith. Smith was easily one of the top 3 talents in the entire draft last year. Easily. He made that line dominant, and his absence was obvious in their bowl game. He wasn't a top player, but man he was just blessed. Johnson wasn't quite as lucky.

Thanks guys. When I watch Alabama he did nothing to impress but he is rated as 3rd OG on sites. Of course those are usually weeks old. I am liking me some Jon Asamoah, but I can't work in what I want in top 3. I want a Pwr Back (Dwyer or Gerhart) but think both will be gone by our pick in 2nd and Asamoah will not make to our pick in 3rd and I want a CB to replace DR. Sigh! Haden @ #15, Asamoah in 2nd and Gerhart in 3rd would please me but don't see Toby dropping that far even if Smithiac would draft him.

You never know about backs like Toby in the draft. Seems like every year there is similar backs to him that fall way later than expected.

Peyton Hillis, Michael Bush, Frank Gore, Brandon Jacobs, Greg Jones, Michael Turner were all big backs that lasted until the 3rd round or later. I know Toby is tearing it but if he doesnt run well at he combine he could drop. Ive seen reports that he runs in the 4.6's. If that is true he will drop.

Man I still wish we would of drafted Hillis. :(

I had mentioned Hillis is draft discussions as a viable option mid second day. With McFadden & Jones stealing the limelight, he got limited touches @ Arkansas but when exposed showed to be a downhill, no nonsense runner.

With surprising speed and agility for a guy his size. I was shocked he lasted past the 3rd round.

After last draft and both Smith and Smith saying a dire need was to improve running game prior to draft, it would not shock me if a back is not selected before 5th. If Brown stays healthy and runs like he did last Colt game, he might be re-signed. I am not certain anything would shock me from here out.
