New Cornerback on the market?

pittbull

Rookie
I realize Casserly blew it on Buchanon, and originally I was a supporter of the trade, but here is anew one for the Texan fans..........Ike Taylor, Pittsburgh Steelers, is a RFA this upcoming season! Lead the league in pass breakups, and many feel he would have made the pro bowl, had he had a few more interceptions. His only blown coverage this season, was the long bomb to Marvin Harrison in the Indy game, after that pass completion, put the guy on operation lockdown (How many top CB'c have gotten brned by marvin and peyton?). Locked down Chad Johnson 3 TIMES this past season, and was the Steelers #1 Cover Corner!!! Price would be cheap. Pittsburgh historically does not pay their players top money and him being a 4th round pick, may want some good money now. Also, a good kid. Hung out with him and Bettis a few times while visting family in the burgh. Can we imagine him and Robinson on opposite side. Both have a nasty streak on the field, but great off the field guys! I can see a new #24 in Houston!:redtowel:

Yah I was talking about Ike Taylor a few days ago. His stats arent too impressive this season until you look at the number of batted passes he has. I think he would be a quality #2 CB.

Unfortunatly.. I think it is going to be hard to pull him away from the Steelers. Real hard.

Getting anyone here will be hard, getting someone from the Steelers would be next to impossible to come here.

shouldnt this have stayed in the Texans forum? That is where we have our FA list and such... kinda figured that was the place to talk about FAs we want to come to houston.

Another great CB that is a free agent is Ricky Manning from Carolina. I think he is going to be a restricted free agent, but if he's signed to the appropriate tender level I'd give up one of our 3rd round picks to sign him since we won't find a CB as good as him that late in the draft. Carolina is going to be pretty close to the cap next year unless they make some changes, so they might not be able to make a matching deal to keep Manning there, although at the same time I can see them signing him to a higher tender level so it would take more than a 3rd round pick to get him.

I agree with this. He could come in and instantly be our #2 CB and PBuch/Faggins could play the nickel.
