Why is my question? The have probably the BEST backup in the league already Rohan Davey? This move doesn't make sense unless they intend to trade Davey. They could get a good WR or DB for a player with Davey's potential.
just becase he lit it up in the EFL dosent mean that he is the best back up in the leage john kitna lit up EFL but wasnt vary good in the NFl till last year
they signed kitner...he was just stating on kitna's performance...and you're right it doesn't make that much sense since they have davey and kingsburry...everything i've heard out of NE says both kingsburry and davey are great back-ups that one day will get their shot at starting for another team...maybe the pats are looking to trade davey for a corner to keep law in check
They also signed the former Bears starting QB Miller. I wouldn't look too much into this. Teams bring in extra QBs for lots of reasons. Sometimes just so they can handle the snaps in camp if other QBs on their roster are injured. My best guess is that Davey might have been a little more banged up than NE would have liked after last season with NFLE and they just want him to get rested. As for Kittner, I believe he's already been released by the Falcons, Giants, and Bengals. So I wouldn't look for him to challenge Brady for playing time
You can never have enough good players! Look at last yr for the Pats. All the injuries and still go all the way! Also Release their Captain Lawyer Malloy .Lost their top Free agent for the season Rosevelt Colvin. The last game they lost which was to the Redskins I think 7 starters were out! To win in the NFL you have to have a good bench! I Don't understand some Teams IE: Redskins paying out all that money for top players! All it takes is a couple of injuries and you are drafting top of the draft board next season!
