Revised to update compensatory picks.
1(1). Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo. Immediately improves outside pass rush.
2(33). A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama.
3(65). JuWuan James, OT, Tennessee. He's been skyrocketing up draft boards. Antonio Richardson or Jack Mewhort will be around if he isn't.
4(101). Caraun Reid, DT, Princeton. This might be a stretch as I think he falls in the 3rd round, but if so I love his tape and I think he can play 5 tech based on his drive. Allows several positions on the DL which will allow multiple sets.
4(135). Andre Williams, RB, Boston college. Stud, power runner that can benefit behind a reloaded offensive line. Can keep the chains moving.
5(141). Marqueston Huff, FS, Wyoming. One of the only bright spots on an atrocious Wyoming defense. Amazing top end speed and hard to get over the top of. Fills a huge need at FS.
6(177). Ryan Carrethers, DT, Arkansas State. Excellent push and can drive a pile back. Excellent rotational tackle.
6(181). Carrington Byndom, CB, Texas. Really flashed in 2011 when Texas had a quality pass rush up front, had 53 tackles and 12 pass breakups this year. I could see him regaining his old form with a pass rush of Mack, Watt, McCullers, Reid and JAG.
6(211). Brock Coyle, ILB, Montana. Good downhill pursuit and diagnosis, plays like a true ILB. Might need to gain a few pounds. Small school player being overlooked, could be a steal. I know a lot of people love smallwood here, but I think he plays too slow for the NFL.
7(216). Marcel Jensen, TE, Fresno st. Crazy big, underutilized in fresno state's arial attack offense. Huge mismatch guy and solid inline blocker. Reminds me of a stronger Ladarius Greene.
7(256). Greg Blair, ILB, Cinncinatti. Love the guy, and I think he can be had here which would be tremendous value.
I feel like I addressed what I believe are our biggest weaknesses. OLB and ILB have been horrible or depleted by injury. DL is non-existent. Secondary needs a small reload and James let's Quess take over LG while Newton plays the bench. Andre Williams will give us the power back we need in heavy sets.
Comments are always welcome.
