Trade down to #3. I have always considered that if the Texans traded down that, it would be to the #4 spot. But what if we traded down with the Titans. Say the Titans want a Trojan more than they want Vince and they know that if they stay where they are that both of the Trojans will be gone. We trade down to 3. They pick there Trojan, New Orleans picks the other USC player, and we are stuck with Vince Young.

Or if Tennesee picks Matt Leinart and New Orleans Picks Young then we still can grab Bush and some extra picks.

Or in my favorite scenario, we trade down again from 3 to 4. We would get a first rounder from next year and a third rounder from this year in the trade with the Titans, and we collect a 2nd rounder from this year in the trade to #4.

So....

Scenario 1..........................Scenario 2.......................Scenario 3
Vince Young........................Reggie Bush.....................D. Ferguson
2007 1st Rounder................2007 1st Rounder..............2007 1st Rounder
2006 3rd Rounder................2006 3rd Rounder..............2006 3rd Rounder
.............................................................................2006 2nd Rounder

I like all three scenarios and in all three we get a player I like, and possibly a chance to get 2 players I like(Leonard Pope).

I don't think the Titans go for that. At the 3 spot they're guaranteed Bush, Leinart, or Young, and going under the popular assumption that we take Bush, they're guaranteed either Young or Leinart. I think the Titans save their picks and get whoever is there at 3.

not if we show an interest in trading away the top spot to a team wanting young. We pull the trigger as soon as the titans bite.

Why are you so sure the Titans want Young so badly that they'd be willing to ditch some pretty good picks to get him at # 1 when they're guaranteed Leinart or Bush if somone moves ahead of them? I can't see the Titans doing that since they don't have a recent history of trading away picks and seeing that there's still 2 excellent prospects left on the board if Young goes first.
