my newest texans mock, 6 rounds

we have a multitude of needs, and i think 1 big need that we won't address is QB. next season has a lot of very talented QB's, and i think we can wait til next year to take one. our offense really only needs an OL and a decent RB. Our defense needs to upgrade the line and the secondary. a linebacker at the strongside would be a nice pickup in the later rounds.

1-levi brown OL
2-brandon meriweather FS
3-kareem brown DT
4-brandon jackson RB
5-corey graham CB
6-dedrick harrington L

after thomas, there is a lack of OL who can play LT. joe staley is probably the only one worth a top 2 round grade. we reach for Levi Brown who could be a boom or bust.

brandon meriweather has been impressive lately in postseason practices and the senior bowl. he may need to pack on a few more pounds, but he is a playmaker at safety.

kareem brown is a big DT who will free up Mario and has the ability to rush the passer. He may need to refine his technique, but he has 1st round talent.

brandon jackson can do a multitude of things at RB. very good hands and has very good vision. in a 2 back system, he should do very well. i really like how he hits the holes.

corey graham is my sleeper pick. he was very productive at new hampshire and has very good measurables. could be the steal of the draft.

dedrick harrington is an ILB at mizzuo who has a good track record and decent size. he's 6'3 245lbs and runs in the 4.75 area and could move to SLB with some added weight. has the frame to pack on an extra 15lbs or more.

i'm a little unsure of the whole levi vs peterson debate, but if peterson is around, i would take him and with the 4th rounder i would take either brandon frye or mario henderson at OT.

I like Levi Brown, but ONLY if he were the best player available, which he's not. I agree with Rick Smith when he said that he wasn't going to reach on any one player and just take the best available. Highly unlikely Levi will be available and guys like Okoye, Anderson and Nelson won't. I like Merriweather in Round 2..he's a hard-hitter, which i like in a safety...and he's an upgrade from C.C., who is definitely not worthy of his starting position. Corey Graham is probably the most unknown CB in the draft, along with my favorite pick in round 4... Michael Coe from Alabama State.

This is a very thin draft at the top for a OT, outside of Thomas and taking one at the top would be a complete reach and the talent at lower rounds isn't much of a drop off. If we plan to take a OT in the first round, next year is the year.

I agree 100%. You should NEVER take an Offensive Lineman with a Top 20 pick in a draft. I don't care if it's your most pressing need. 3rd and 4th rounders, from what I've seen in the past, are just as good technique wise, if not better.
