My first Texans Mock of the season

awtysst

Draft Guru
I came up with a couple of scenarios for the Texans in the upcoming draft. Please leave constructive feedback as it will help me with my next mock.

1. Amobi Okoye, DT Louisville
I felt the Texans could go a lot of ways here, but what was one thing the playoff teams all had? Strong O and D lines. I went with someone who can make Mario better. This guy is only 19(and Mario is 22 or so). These guys could be a force together.(alternate picks:Adrian Peterson or La Ron Landry or Levi Brown)

2. Michael Bush, RB, Louisville
I was somewhat torn on this pick. I think Bush is a great back, but I wonder if taking a back so high is a bad call. In the end I thought that Bush made a
good Value pick. (alternate picks:Justin Blalock or Brandon Merriweather or Victor Abirimi(sp)

3. Tony Ugoh, OT Arkansas
Like I said before, playoff teams have strong O and D lines. Pick 1 went to solidify the D line, pick 3 goes to the Oline. I haqve heard good things about him.(alternate picks:Rufus Alexander or Lamar Woodley)

4. Steve Smith, WR USC
I have heard his name falling recently and am not sure why. If he lands in the 4th, Id take him.(alternate picks:Juwan Simpson, Tarrell Brown)

5. Ryan Smith, CB Florida
(alternate picks: David Clowney or Kevin Payne)

6. Reggie lewis, CB Florida
(alternate picks:Kyle Young or CJ Gadis)

7.Kasey Studdard, OG Texas
(alternate picks: David Patterson or Corey Graham)

I like your pick of Okoye.

Not liking the Bush pick though, not keen on a RB unless it is one of the big 2. I feel we can go with a combo of a fit Dayne, a growing Taylor and maybe a dash of Williams or Lundy. I also think your dreaming thinking Landry is an option in the 2nd.

If Ugoh is there in the 3rd I would grab him, but he too may be long gone by then.

After that my feeling for the draft starts to crumble so I'll leave it for others to comment.

I like your 1st round pick of Okoye. I would take him over Branch because I think Okoye fits what the Texans are looking for (pass rushing DT).

As for Bush in the 2nd, I'd have to say no, because I don't think he fits the ZB scheme (one cut and run) from what I've been hearing. Also, I think we can get by with what we have for the coming season and then go after one next year.

Ugoh will not be there in the 3rd round, and some say he might go in the late 1st round. Here is a link to Football's Future http://www.footballsfuture.com/. Just click on the Profiles section and then go to the OL. Now if you had us picking Ugoh in the 2nd instead of Bush, that would be a good pick.

Smith with the 4th could be a good pick. Just not sure if WR is that big of a need at this time. I think we can live with what we have, but if they wanted to get somebody to groom behind Moulds, I guess it wouldn't be bad.

The 2 CB's from Florida I don't no anything about, so I can't comment about them. As for Studdard, I don't think he will make it to the 7th round and I don't think the Texans need a Guard, but I guess if he's there, maybe they could use him. JMHO!

I like a guy by the name of Roman Fry in Round 7. He's an OG from Clemson. Only been playing ball for a couple of years. Scouting Report him is that he's very raw, but has all the physical tools including an amazing work ethic. He also still has room to grow into his 6'3" 295 lb. frame.

I would love to see us take Alan Branch over Okoye in Round 1. If Branch is gone, I'd like to see Brady Quinn come to us at #8.

No matter who we draft in the 1st Round, I am a big fan of Tony Ugoh or Joe Staley coming to us in Round 2. Spencer isn't a guarantee at this point, and we can't count on him to be there when the season starts.

David Ball in Round 5. This guy flat out gets open and makes plays. Granted, he DID play at New Hampshire, but I think this guy's got a chance to develop into a solid #2 with time.

I'm also a big fan of Corey Graham in Round 6. Also played at UNH, he has everything you would covet in a late round CB. Potential is sky high.

Gerald Alexander, S Boise State and David Harris LB, Michigan are also guys I like to come to us in the draft.

free agents I would like to see us look @
kevin curtis roman oben deion grant charles grant cooper carlisle

I believe one of these players should be available in each slotted round whn you add in 2 or 3 f.a. pickups ( i really like curtis) this should fill several holes
