My complete 7 round mock

I like Prince and what he brings to the table, but he, like most CBs need safety help and protection and unless we address that area we will always have an AWFUL secondary.

The one thing I don't like about Prince is his rookie-ness. The Texans need to draft a starter with their 1st pick, and I don't want another rookie starting at CB.

Drafting another Rookie CB in the first round is still not going to make our defense any better (maybe 3-4 down the road but we need help now!). We need a veteran CB so the young guys can learn from him (namely jackson). Move Quinn to safety and our D doesn't look too bad.

Picking Prince over Robert Quinn is huge fail... just my humble opinion.

Wow that's alot of work, Congrats. I like the Prince Amukamara pick in the 1st round and Sash in the 4th and Powe in the 5th are great value but I don't think they'll go that late.

This seems like the theme of the draft this year. I've heard this phrase way more then I have any other year (maybe its just that I've noticed it more). Personally I think that it is just a fairly deep draft class with a lot of talent to be had in later rounds. There are going to be some great players available in rounds later then we thought they would be, thats for sure.

A recap of your Texans selections:

11.Houston Texans: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
Houston has to fill a few spots in its new 3-4 front seven, but that can wait. If Amukamara is still on the board, the Texans have to draft him. The defensive secondary was a complete mess in 2010. Some Houston fans may not want to see another rookie corner, but this is absolutely the right pick.

42. Houston Texans: Jabaal Sheard, OLB, Pittsburgh
The Texans get their pass rusher in the second round after securing the secondary with the 11th overall selection.

73. Houston Texans: Titus Young, WR, Boise State
Contrary to popular belief, Titus Young isn’t DeSean Jackson and that’s why he won’t get drafted until the end of the second round at the earliest. Still, he would be a good fit across from Andre Johnson in Houston.

105. Houston Texans: Tyler Sash, S, Iowa
The Texans would have been a playoff team in 2010 had it not been for their inability to defend against the pass.

138. Houston Texans: Jerrell Powe, NT, Mississippi
The Texans have to find a nose tackle for the 3-4.

178. Houston Texans: Chris Prosinski, S, Wyoming
Prosinski is a smart player and a reliable tackler. He ran a 4.39 forty at his Pro Day and will certainly be drafted. Don’t be surprised if he sneaks into the third round.

214. Houston Texans: Loyce Means, CB, Houston
Means somehow managed to score three touchdowns in the Eastham Energy All-Star Game.

254. Houston Texans: Troy Weatherhead, QB, Hillsdale
Ok, I’m completely ignoring what Houston might actually do with this selection in favor of slotting in a player that I think has some potential. Nobody is talking about Weatherhead. He completed 76.9% of his passes and threw 26 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions in 2010. Weatherhead has ideal size for a pro quarterback and his arm is at least good enough for the NFL. I’m not saying he’ll be the next Tony Romo. He’s just my top deep sleeper for the 2011 draft.
I might have gone Quinn @11 and either Aaron Williams or Dowling @42. But Prince and Sheard would be solid picks. I don't think Titus Young is a Texans type WR. Too Ashley Lelie for Kubiak. What I like most about this draft is that you went for hard-nosed physical players to improve the defense. Not just a bunch of guys with good computer numbers. It's the type of draft I could see the Ravens coming up with. That's a compliment. And you made me lookup Troy Weatherhead.

Draft OLB and CB in early rounds(1-3) that I would like for us to do. Hopefully, these picks are starter material guys. If we can fill these needs by FA, that is fine with me too.

Go Texans!!!

Yeah, there is 7 rounds worth of round 3-5 talent and very little round 1-2 talent.
