Since you understand business terms let me spell out what your dollars are buying you. You are paying our starting QB a base of 5.5 million dollars this year and this is what it is buying you:

1 passing yard costs $2,722
1 rushing yard costs $18,965
1 completion costs $26,066
1 passing TD costs $458,333
1 rushing TD costs $5,500,000

I know football is not all about numbers. Carr brings alot to the table that you can't teach - leadership, IQ, fearlesness. :rolleyes:

I haven't given up on him yet. I won't do that until he has an offensive line. I just don't know how he is supposed to develop under such circumstances. It may be in his best interest to get a fresh start somewhere else, but I don't think this will happen. He will probably NEVER develop to what he could have been out of college, but I think he can still be an above average NFL QB with a good offensive line.

If I were signing the paychecks, it would be VERY difficult for me go ahead with that $8 million bonus.

Is there a reason we don't discuss the possibility of only extending the contract for two years, which includes a $5.5 million dollar bonus?

And what if we declined the option and hit him with the transitional tag. Would that create a PR bloodbath? Matt Jackson discussed this on 610, so I don't know if this is even realistic.

Watch out how you talk about such things on this site. I made mention of a similar type some time back and got some pretty bad reputation responses, however thats supposed to work. It would just seem to me that every part of the team should be under the microscope and every possible avenue discussed openly and not have to suffer personal attacks.

I am actually on the fence on this issue, so I don't expect to offend too many people. :redtowel:
 
I am actually a very ardent Carr fan BUT I'm a Texan Fan first and foremost.
It would be alot nicer to see succeed but only time will tell that.
 
It is absolutly disgusting IMO that at this point we don't really know what we have in Carr, much less what we MIGHT have had before we turned him into a Pinjata (sp?). Coachs and GM have let this kid (and other players) and the team down big time.

Not being sarcastic, but I have seen many talk about how me made Carr a pinata. Not asking for you to speak for everyone, but can you elaborate on how you got that notion? Are you assuming he was not sacked at Fresno?
 
If I recall correctly DC was alot more mobile and ran the ball alot more in the first season. Now I know it's not a very good idea to let your QB venture out of the pocket of ?protection? very much, but do you think it would be as bad as what he's had to endure for as long as he has. At least he would be able to create that doubt in the mind of the DL and give him a chance to elude some of the hits he's taken.

If I am not mistaken, he has been sacked more times than any other QB in NFL history over a consecutive 4 year span. We still have two games to go.

He has, but I would say that getting sacked is part of his pedigree. I have seen FSU play once a year for the last ten odd years and I have seen an offense that is quick strike. How does DC get sacked once every 9.5 attempts in that type of offense? The better NFL QB's are getting sacked in every 20-30 attempts per game. I attribute it to the fact he has no feel for pressure, no footwork, no vision and no ability to read the defense.

Where is the breakdown for what Carr gets for getting sacked 64 times so far this season?

Since DC represents about 30% of the sacks on his own volition that would equate to McNair paying him $261,904 per trip to the sideline. I on the other hand take a trip to the vendors 2.5 times per game and usually pay $22 per trip. Over eight games that equates to $440. If 595 fans do that per year we have paid for David's run to the sidelines.
