OK!!!! Too much info there.....LOL :jk:

on a lot of sports sights he is listed with the texans, but on the texans official homepage, he isnt.. its very odd.. i guess we will have to wait til training camps to find out

I e-mailed the Texans and asked for clarification. If they write back, I'll let y'all know what they said.

I think you guys are right. It might be related to his shoulder injury he suffered last season while playing for the San Diego Chargers. Although you think he would have been fully rehabiliated by now and ready to be signed by the Texans or someone else.

HOUSTON - The Houston Texans announced today that they have signed unrestricted free agent LB Zeke Moreno, free agent P Curtis Ansel and rookie free agent OT Myniya Smith.

Moreno (6-2, 235) played in 57 games, starting 15 during his four seasons with the San Diego Chargers. Drafted by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 2001 draft from Southern California, Moreno has 141 total tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his career.

Moreno’s best season was 2003 when he started 12 games totaling 78 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries. He played in nine games in 2004 before being sidelines with a shoulder injury that landed him on the Reserve/Injured list (11/15/04).

Ansel (6-0, 210) originally signed with Detroit as an undrafted rookie free agent. He was released after training camp (8/23/04). Ansel played collegiate football at Kansas where he recorded 154 career punts for 6,344 yards (41.2 avg.) and set the Big 12 record for the longest punt (83 yards at Baylor).

Smith (6-6, 343) participated as a rookie free agent tryout. He signs with the Texans out of Southern University where he started 10 games for the Jaguars and was voted first-team All-SWAC.

I guess this means our LB depth chart looks like this:

OLB
Babin, Peek, Anderson, Pettway, Orr, Cheatwood, Acholonu, Dunn

ILB
Greenwood, Wong, Moreno, Polk, Evans, Monk, Chamberlain, Harrison, Morretti

We probably only carry the top 4 at each on our 53-man roster.
The final spot at OLB should be a dogfight at camp.

ESPN is now reporting that we signed him and a few others:

Moreno, who spent the past four seasons with the San Diego Chargers, played in nine games in 2004 before going on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. His best year came in 2003 when he started 12 games, making 78 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Ansel signed with Detroit as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2004 and was later released in training camp. He played for the University of Kansas, where he averaged 41.2 yards a punt on 154 attempts and set the Big 12 record for longest punt (83 yards at Baylor).

Smith is a 6-foot-6, 343-pound defensive lineman from Southern University in Louisiana. He started 10 games in his senior season and was voted first-team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference.
