Mock trade feedback. 2004 replica.

Ive been thinking about a senario where the Texans trade Sharper to get back into the late 1st.

#13 Shawne Merriman, OLB, Maryland
#26 Channing Crowder, ILB, Florida
#73 Eric Shelton, RB, Louisville
#78 Matt Jones, WR, Arkansas

This would take care of the linebackers. Our #2 WR, and a pounder at RB. The only thing that is missing, is some o-line help. Which could be had in round 4.

I think that this scenario is actually pretty realistic, per the value chart...This would mean Sharper is worth 270 points which is the value of the 64th pick, or last pick of the second round...If we were able to get Merriman and Crowder in the first, our LBs would be set for years...The only change I would make to your picks would be Jason Brown or Ben Wilkerson in the place of Shelton, even though I feel Shelton would be a good pickup...

You are probably right. We could use an interior lineman more than a situational runner. Then we could use our 4th on Cedric Houston.

#73 Jason Brown, C, North Carolina
#78 Matt Jones, WR, Arkansas

I decided on Brown for two reasons.

#1, Ben is on his way back from an injury.
#2, Brown is supposedly one of the strongest, or the strongest player in College ball. And that is basically everyones knock on McKinney. That he gets pushed around. Well Brown does not get pushed around. His knock is poor mobility.

Why do we need 2 LB. We only have 1 spot open if that. If god decides to shine his light upon us and let Merriman fall that far then i say go for him. He could be our weakside. He could allow Smith or Walker whatever side he is on to give them a one on one match up which i think favors them. I can see the Texans taking one in 1st round. We do need a WR way before #78. A RB where did this come from. I think a OL at #73 that adds depth

to me lets say Merriman Falls to 13 & we trade to 28
#13 Merriman
#28 Brandon Browner or a Gibson or Brown
#73 OL maybe Chris Colmer, Micheal Munoz, Anthony Alabj, calvin armstrong.
#78 opposite of #28. If we go CB we go WR here and vice versa
maybe Terrance Murphy or a later round CB.

we need 2 LBs cause we have 2 spots that need filling. this year we dont NEED 2 LBs.. but if we can get 2 good LBs then it would not be a bad idea.

What 2 spots
we have babin, peek, Greenwood, wong,
from what i have heard Peeks not getting his chance. I think we need atleast a 2nd round WR than a LB that will sit alongside Peek. I can see one of the 2. We still need a WR and CB, OL, DE depth. 2 LB that early takes alot of value away from what we can get at other positions.

My dream Trades may not be quite as likely.. but it sure would be nice :)

Trade1: Our 13th to Philly for their 31st and 35th (1150 points, even trade)

Trade2: Our 47th, 73rd, and Sharper to Dallas for their 20th (Sharpers worth = 195, or the 79th pick)

This would leave us with

20th
31st
35th
78th

#20: David Pollack
#31: Demarcus Ware
#35: Anttaj Hawthorne
#78: Jason Brown

Huge boost of youth and talent to our front seven. Solidifies our LBs. Jason Brown is a quality interior Olineman to add depth and hopefully win McKinney's spot.

why this wont happen:

Our LBs would be one of the youngest in the league.. but also the most expensive in a few years. Thats THREE first round LBs.

You "supposedly" dont need first round talent at LB in a 3-4 to be effective. Though we havent done so good with our talent so far.

Trading sharper and trading back in the 1st.. and we still only have 4 first day picks.

Dallas wants to hold onto their two first rounders I hear.. but Minnesota is another possibility.. and the math wouldnt have to change much, if at all.
