I want to attack (overload) particular positions in these scenarios and the ideas that can come from it. In this one, we're drafting at ~20.
First round - quarterback ... trades allowed
Second and later - inside linebacker and offensive line
FWIW I use to follow Matt Miller on twitter. After some time I unfollowed Matt because I found I disagreed with many of his evaluations and he seemed to get it wrong much more often than he got it right. I put him in novice amateur draftnik class of Todd McShay which is basically a waste of my time. Just a view from the other side.Matt Miller is one of the foremost prolific national mock draft talking heads. He will be on 610 later this morning/early afternoon to talk about his latest Texan mock draft picks. Interestingly he doesn't include QB position. Using BPA approach. I'll be listening to hear his explanations.

FYI and FTR there are quite a few making a living at it (to what degree is debatable). Hang a shingle on a website and you're in business as a novice amateur draftnik. Much like any Fortune Teller and/or Palm Reader. And like Fortune Tellers and Palm Readers, Novice Amateur Draftniks get it wrong about 80% of the time. I enjoy draft talk as much as anyone and we're all entitled to our opinions. That is not why I took exception. To be clear I took exception to the reference to Matt Miller as foremost and prolific. I find that a bit misleading or in other words read Miller if you must but with a grain of salt.anyway he is making a living @ it & your not,
Journalistic training no longer exists in sports or otherwise. Now you throw stuff against the wall and watch it drip. A C student in English might be in the top of the class in a world which resembles an assembly of busybodies (gossiping hens?) more than fact checking linguists.FYI and FTR there are quite a few making a living at it (to what degree is debatable). A few years ago I received a couple of request to write for Bleacher Report. I declined each time because I had no training as a journalist. I was always a "C" student in English and felt I was not qualified to write for any publication. I did not know at the time that journalistic training was not a prerequisite to write for Bleacher Report.
A bit disappointed that nobody took the challenge. I probably didn't make the suggestion clear enough. Round 2?
1-3 ... Runningback
2-5 ... Safety
The goal of this thread (other than my amusement) is through the draft to see how and with who we could eliminate very specific needs and add depth 'with extreme prejudice'. The initial (failed) post tackled my key ingredients. This one hits holes that could have immediate return as a grinding/defensive team with 'Legion of Boom' type aspirations, that with the right back end may be able to surpass.
We have 6 selections. Any number of runningbacks, at our predicted picks, are allowed to be taken in rounds 1-3. Any number of safeties (oversized corners and undersized linebackers welcome) are allowed to be taken in rounds 2-5.
