Not surprised about he has Robinson at guard, but he and Lamp above Feeney?

Figured he'd be at RT before being a 6'6 guard. Not earth-shattering, mind, just popped when going down the list.

And gotta admit, while I know I'm in the minority here, I wasn't that blown away watching Feeney. He wasn't particularly bad, just didn't seem much exceptional. I'd take Lamp first in a heartbeat.

It was the both of them at guard above Feeney that surprised me. Think Robinson would be a better RT than guard. Feeney is not exceptional, but he's solid

This is Mayock's starting point. Using history as a guide, Mayock has always adjusted his list after the Combine and then he fine tunes and tweaks his list during Pro Days.

Yeah I think Robinson will struggle mightily to mirror speed rushers. I think he can be an adequate RT, but he can be a dominant guard.

He's played against the best speed rushers in college football for the last 4 yrs and has aquitted himself well. So. yes I do believe he can play LT at an acceptable level. (Micheal Oher) He can be a dominate RT and an all pro OG. Robinson does have some things to clean up but that's what coaching is for.

So I agree with you.

I'm a little surprised that Ryan Ramczyk is still at the top of the OT list with the hip surgery issue, it must not have been very serious and/or he's recovering well. I'm surprised to see Dion Dawkins on the OG list. I know he played there in the Senior Bowl but I think he can play OT at a high level. Not surprised to see Cam Robinson on the OG list, though I think he'd make a good/serviceable RT. Zach Cunningham being the 3rd ranked LB is a little surprising, but it's dependent on what defensive system a team runs. I'd love for the Texans to take him at #25 if he's still available. I'm surprised that Bucky Hodges isn't in the top 5 TE's.

Wait until after the Combine medicals, Mayock will get the scoop and if Ram stays a top the board then he probably OK if he drops then he's probably a ?.

This class is loaded at TE, the best TE class in a long time could be 7 starters in this class.

UCLA defenive end/outside linebacker Takkarist McKinley had opted out of the Senior Bowl due to a torn right shoulder labrum and has decided to undergo surgery immediately after the Combine.

Any word whether he will skip some or all of the field tests/drills like the Bench Press? This is someone I thought might fall to the Texans in the 1st rd that could be a part of a nice 3 man rotation at OLB (Mercilus, Simon, McKinley). I like Simon but he missed a lot of time last year at the end of the season and McKinley could be an upgrade that would give good depth at the position, especially if they plan on leaving Clowney at DE. Doc, how long after surgery before McKinley would be 100%?

The good news is that 90% of NFL players undergoing this type surgery return to play............the question is when and when will return to peak occur.
His recovery time will depend on different factors such as the surgery being arthroscopic or open......and the extent of damage within the joint—which, despite MRI imaging, will not be precisely known until his surgeon directly observes the inside of the joint while in the operating room.

A 2014 study by the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama reviewed the charts of 60 NFL players who had undergone either arthroscopic or open stabilization at their institution. They looked at the rate of return to play, the length of time between surgery and return to an NFL game, and factors that might have impacted successful return. Of the 60 NFL players who underwent shoulder stabilization at ASMI, 49 of them had arthroscopic labral repair, while 11 needed an open repair. Ninety percent of the players (54 of the 60) successfully returned to play in a regular season NFL game after shoulder stabilization. This broke down to 92% of the players undergoing arthroscopic surgery being able to return, but only 82% of the open surgery group could return. Among the players who did return to play, the average time between surgery and the first game played was 8.6 months. None of the 60 athletes returned to play in the same season in which he underwent surgery. Most of the athletes who had surgery in the offseason returned in time to play at the start of the following season. Age, number of games before surgery, and career length were not statistically different between those that returned and those that did not. It was also interesting to note that players selected before the fourth round of the NFL draft were 7.6 times more likely to return to play following the surgery. Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive study that I could find that addressed the level of function/performance or longevity this surgery afforded, or a breakdown by position.

I would suggest that McKinley, if he is in the 90% group, will not gain his full capabilities before late season or next season. If he is used as a DE, i.e., head on with large OL, that shoulder will be constantly stress, and it is to be seen how it holds up. I would be very hesitant to use a 1st pick on a player that may not have immediate impact.

Perhaps Robinson is a marginal LT but I would think he' more than qualified to be a steady NFL RT, and I sure hope he's available on our Board.
Eluemunor is the most interesting name on Mayoc's OLine list since it's the first time I've heard of him and yet he has him tied with Molton as the 5th best Tackle while
another Draft rating site, CBS Draft, has him inside as only their 13th best guard and says he's a 5th rounder. Very interesting ?

Ya, I see Robinson as a possible monster RT without the need to move him inside. But I also see Dawkins as a solid RT to be had after rd 1.

And while we're moving things around I'd prefer Moton as a road-grading RG.

For all the talk about how miserable this OL class is, between Ramczyk, Bolles, Lamp, Robinson, Feeney, Dawkins, and Moton, if all used properly could have the potential to make people really rethink they're take on this class in a few years. And I'd sure like for that thinking to be done with at least one of them as a Texan then.

IN OUR VIEW: Football is a big man's game and they don't come much bigger or more powerful than Dawkins. With the frame, power, agility and mentality to help quickly at tackle or guard, Dawkins looks like a potential Day One starter.

You're right about Dawkins Mollywhopper because he's looks like a guy who might really be able to help us, potentially atleast.
BTW I think most of the criticism of a lack of talent of this years OLine class is directed at tackles and not guards/centers.

Just a quick glance at what I have, but I see four OL with 1st round talent and five with 2nd round talent. I don't get the knock on this class at all. Sure, there isn't a slam dunk consensus franchise LT (Bolles could eventually be one) but I still have six OTs (counting Moton) that grade in the first two rounds.

If Bolles were younger he could be but at 25 nobody is going to give him that label.

This draft is shaping up nicely to facilitate a trade back into the top of the 2nd, possibly with San Fran, and still get a quality OT. Then with our own 2nd and the 49ers 3rd get our QB and another quality player. I'd like this player to be another OLman, but, whatever.

He will be 30 when his rookie contract is up. There is too much talent in the first round or I would agree.
I was responding to wolverinefan's comment that due to age Bolles would not be labeled a franchise LT. As I think it is 50-50 that D Brown might play another two season, I guess that would reduce Bolles chances but IMO he could start RT until he moves to left so that time should be counted also. 5 year rookie deal then a second contract at 30 could leave him with with 3-5 addition seasons. Today I'd accept five seasons as a starting OT. To clarify, I am not taking an OT until round two in Dawkins. I have CB Awuzie at 25 to start at nickle moving Jackson to safety filling two holes.

I could see SF using our #25 for either a QB or more likely SS Melifonwu. Texans make me happy with #34 CB Awuzie, #57 OT Dawkins, #66 OLB either Ryan Anderson or Derek Rivers, #89 QB Peterman (ranked by CBS sports #112), 4.131 ILB Connor Harris (unbelievable stats), 4.142 LT Davenport (one year behind Brown & should be able to replace him if needed), 5.169 DE Dimick. This is basically my current mock without #36

Mixon apparently popped another girl in high school. I bet this hurts his draft stock even further. Mayock may need to slide him back to that special exceptions list.

From Roto:

Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon allegedly punched a female while in high school.

The allegation comes from Anthony Hernandez, who says for a "fact" that Mixon hit his daughter when the two were in high school. "He threw my daughter to the ground and hit her," Hernandez said. "I went to the school and they hid him in the office. He got no punishment. The police even came. I was escorted off the campus as if I did something wrong. These are simply the facts, he's a woman beater." Longtime personnel man Gil Brandt said this incident is of concern among NFL teams, in addition to the video of Mixon laying out a girl with a punch at Oklahoma. Mixon could be drafted anywhere from Day 2 to being an UDFA.

I think Mixon will end up in prison before his first contract is completed.

I don't know. This "knew" incident happened before the first one we heard about.

Sounds like he has anger issues, sounds like he doesn't respect women. May very well be scum.

I wouldn't have been surprised if some team grabbed him early 2nd. Now, Houston may have an opportunity to pass on him a second time.

Might be the kind of thing that humbles the kid, put a chip on his shoulder, give him something to prove.

Who knows?

I don't think so!

Florida draft prospect Caleb Brantley arrested for punching a woman
April 23, 2017, 5:35 PM EDT

Florida defensive tackle Caleb Brantley was expecting to be drafted this week, with some projections having him going in the first round. But things have just changed dramatically.

Brantley was arrested in Gainesville for allegedly punching a woman, knocking her unconscious and knocking out a tooth. He is facing a misdemeanor count of simple battery.

The police report says the 307-pound Brantley punched the 120-pound victim in the face. Although the report says the victim pushed Brantley first, it says that the “use of force was clearly out of retaliation and not self defense” and that Brantley’s force “far exceeded what was reasonable or necessary.” Two witnesses saw Brantley punch the woman, police say.

The incident sounds similar to the arrest of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon. That incident has surely affected Mixon’s draft stock, but Brantley’s stock is likely to drop even further. Mixon has spent the last three months meeting with NFL coaches and personnel executives and promising them that he is a changed man. Brantley simply doesn’t have the time to do that, with only days to go before the draft. Teams may also question whether they can ever trust Brantley to stay out of trouble if he can’t restrain himself from punching a woman when he knows the draft is approaching.

We’ll see this week whether any team is willing to draft Brantley at all, and if so how that team explains why it would take a chance on such a player.

Brantley just flew up steelb's draft board.
I took him for the Skins, so I'll trade him to steelbtexan for a 2018 1st.

I know I say this every year, but why aren't these guys locked up in a hotel room until draft day? Let them out for a pro day or team interview and that's it. No hanging out at bars. No strip clubs. No nothing. There are literally millions of $$$ at stake. You can't put yourself in a position to blow that.

Young people make a lot of stupid decisions and most of these kids do not have good role models around them to guide them. In fact, most have been enabled for most of their lives because of their athletic gifts. A lot of relatives, community members, and sports mentors manipulating them and trying to get their hands into their pockets. And most agents have multiple clients so they aren't going to spend their time babysitting because they get paid regardless.

And NFL teams don't want them forced to stay in hotels or out of the spotlight. They want them free to do as they please so they can weed out the idiots before pay day.

It's still up in the air whether Brantley will be charged, according to ESPN.

A Florida state attorney said Monday that his office won't decide before the start of Thursday night's NFL draft whether former Florida defensive tackle Caleb Brantley will be formally charged with misdemeanor simple battery.

Brantley, who is considered a potential second-round pick in the draft, is accused of striking a woman and knocking her unconscious during a dispute at a bar in Gainesville, Florida, on April 13.

On Friday, Gainesville Police charged him with misdemeanor simple battery in a sworn complaint filed with the state attorney's office. The state attorney's office will decide whether there's enough evidence for the case to proceed against him.

"I don't care about the NFL draft, and I don't believe there's any way we will make a decision before Thursday," State Attorney Bill Cervone said. "The police filed their report with us Friday and we're trying to figure out what's what."

I tell you what you go to YouTube and search woman punches man, then let's see if you come back with that same attitude.
She was 5'6" 120lbs. A third of his size. I mean Brantley ran a 5.1 40, he could have just run away from her. There's zero excuse for this.

Evidently, he's got a lot of growing up to do.........And his mother has alot to learn about the NFL Draft process (a 41-question resume document for prospective NFL agents?). (And his high-powered CAA agents Patrick Collins, Benjamin Renzin, Todd France and R.J. Gonser in consultation with Jimmy Sexton didn't do him any good either.)

I don't know if they're aren't agents that lockdown their players before the draft. Just that Brantley's didn't. A mid-2nd round pick gets a contract in the $5 million range. 3-5% commission on that is $150-$250k. I don't think these agents can afford to blow that in a consistent basis. Dumb player + dumb agent =

Add another player to the list. Gareon Conley accused of raping a girl during his draft visit to the Browns. He will no longer be attending the draft on Thursday.
