Mike Gesicki, TE from Penn State, might be a TE worth drafting. Team is need of a 2nd Tight End.

Cool story bro.

But seriously, I’ve wanted him on the squad all along. Watched a lot of PS games and I really like him. Nfl body with really good athleticism and he’s a natural receiver.

Again, thanks for beginning to post. But could you not post new threads for every player you are interested in? There are existing threads for such posts.:tiphat:

Agreed, we need a good TE, but for me, he has to be able to block for runs and pass protection as well as catch the ball.

I don't know if he fits what BOB wants. With our tackle situation, I feel like he wants a true way TE with blocking skills to match the receiving skills. Haydon Hurst is a guy that I like a lot that fits that bill. I just don't know if he'd slide to the 3rd round. I tend to think he's a second rounder and possibly a high second rounder.

I'm not opposed to this guy and he could be there in the 3rd, but he's an overgrown WR and not a true two-way TE.

IMO Gesicki will be gone in the first, don't understand the hate on him. Penn St didn't ask him to block inline much, SFW? Gesicki is the most athletic TE prospect in history other than Vernon Davis, plus he has fly paper for hands and isn't a head case. If he is still available in the mid to late 2nd round we would be idiots not to trade up and nab him. IMO, Gesicki is better prospect than Eric Ebron was, who went #10.

I'll admit to not having seen much of him, however what I have read on him seems to indicate that blocking is a huge liability. I just don't think he fits what BOB is looking for in a TE IF that criticism is true. Given our tackle situation we don't need an overgrown WR, seems to me we need a dual threat - a poor man's gronk and hurst is that guy if he's available.

Agreed.

I think the blocking stuff is overplayed anyways.

If dude falls, Texans should be all over him. Instantly adds a dynamic to the passing game that we’ve never had.

He's not really a TE at this point. He's a jumbo slot. His blocking is atrocious. In today's NFL there is still a major place for a guy like that in the right offense. You just need to use him correctly.

Jumbo slot is exactly right. Always looking for mismatches. When I go back to the TE part of the combine, he just jumps off the screen. He is a big, nifty receiver with natural hands .... a difference maker. If he is there in mid to late second, and there is no difference making lineman, I'd grab him. Unfortunately, I think he will go late first - early second.

I've watched some film on him. Despite his 40, don't expect for him to be explosive and get ANY separation. He will be a tall statue in the slot or in the EZ........a great target with a great radius of catch (with great contesting skills).......while pretty much standing in place. Of course, if the ball doesn't get thrown to him, the pigeons will love him out there.:)

What makes you think you know what BOB is looking for? Serious question not being snarky. Have I missed something?

The last pro bowl TE the Texans had was Owen Daniels. This is a pick worth moving up to get. E very top team in the NFL has a great catching TE. I greed that a TE would be worth moving up to get this player.
