Michigan imposes self sanctions

Rodriguez's response was submitted by his attorney, Scott Tompsett. He said the coach was "very disappointed that his administrators failed to provide the job descriptions on multiple occasions and he is disappointed that the compliance staff never brought their failure to his attention. Rodriguez has always had an open-door policy for anyone to bring matters to his attention."

From the article. Talk about passing the buck. It is hard for me to believe he gets a free pass on the blame.

No kidding.

I think if there was a big name candidate floating around or someone they think they could lure away they'd make a move soon.

IMO Rich is pretty much good as gone after this season. Especially once the NCAA sanctions get passed down.

I am a big Michigan fan and believe me, Rich Rod is a good coach...but not right for Michigan. The AD should've promoted someone in-house as a interm coach until they found a suitable candidate such as DC English. They already had a top ten quarterback in Ryan Mallett ready to take over once Chad Henne left.

I hope Michigan gets to a bowl game and beats Ohio State, if not, there is not doubt that Rich Rod will be gone.

Rich Rod isn't doing anything that MANY of other coaches aren't doing themselves. He just got ratted out.

Think of our own little scandal with Jordan "my pee pee hurts" Black. Alot of coaches try to bend if not break the rules altogether.

I've been hearing from a lot of Michigan fans that the NCAA is using Michigan as a scapegoat. Whatever happened to USC and their little scandal?

Oh I don't doubt that isn't true for a moment. I don't have a problem with Rich as much as what his teams have shown or I should say haven't shown on the field.

I just thought going into things it was going to be difficult to run the spread offense which worked so well for him at WV. Big name for UM, bad fit.

Technically Michigan did break rules although the entire thing has been drawn out and overly exaggerated. The violations have more to do with university employees not doing their jobs than it has to do with Rodriguez. It actually has more to do with Mike Barwis than Rodriguez also. The reason Rodriguez is implicated is because he is the head coach. That's the only reason.

If you hear anybody talk about this subject then take it with a grain of salt and with an open mind because only about 5% of people touching the subject have any idea what they are talking about. Watching College Football Live yesterday was painful because once you know the facts of the case it's obvious that ESPN either 1) has no idea what's going on or 2) is just ignoring the facts and milking the story for all it's worth. I for one vote #2.
