Michael Crabtree torn achillies 5/22

@MikeGarafolo: Tough one for 49ers. Michael Crabtree has a torn Achilles

ouch, that has to hurt.

They have 2 receivers coming off of injury with Manningham and Williams. Then they have a 1st round pick in AJ Jenkins who didn't play in addition to drafting Patton this year. They could still be ok, but they'll still miss him though.

Bolbin or no Boldin, this just evened the playing field. I felt the 9ers would win the SB this year, but now I'm not so sure. One player doesn't put you over the top, but it takes away the need to leave Crabtree open because of double covering Boldin.

Yeah, they are gonna need some guys to really step up at that position now that are unproven whether its due to medical reasons or inexperience.

It's the end of May, and if I remember right Terrell Suggs tore his in April, and was back by October. He might, might be ready to go by the season's end (or sooner(HGH is a helluva drug)).

EDIT: contract year also.

Tough break but Suggs and others came back from this injury without missing a year so we shall see. He might come back just in time to give them a boost. I guess this moves up their 4th rounder Quinton Patten into a more prominent role.

Completely different positions though. I would think making sharp cuts all the time would make it tough for him to have any type of impact this year at all. Suggs wasn't even close to the player he normally is.

I don't think he will be effective either, but I'm saying he may end up playing this year.

He's signed through 2014. He never hit the Pro Bowl triggers to have the option to void the 6th year

Either way, I really don't like seeing injuries like this to players in the off season. OTAs = Darned if you do, darned if you don't
