Matt Leinart won't let it go

I thought you were in the trade down get D'Brick club....... Why would you spend a first round pick for a guy like this.
I would much prefer to trade down and get Mario Williams, then pick up Eric Winston either at #33 if he's there or else trade back up into the later part of the 1st round to get him.

I'm not saying that they definitely would have stopped them, but you can't say that it wasn't a possibility. You never know what can happen. A player could have fumbled or Vince could have thrown an interception, or USC could have just stopped them.

Not only that, how much time would have come off the clock?? 30 secs?? 1 minute?? 2 minutes?? it makes a diffence in a game like this.....

That picture SHOULD put an end to the "draft vince young" threads as well imo. What a soar winner..

I dunno if anyone ever reads Michael Vick interviews... but I do NOT want someone with that kind of attitude on my team. Ill have a REAL hard time not hating that person.

I Agree with you Grid! I thought Vince would be great addition for the TEXANS. But after seeing this picture and hearing about the $75 dollar signature signing (contradict the "money.... money was not factor draft video") changes my mind. With fame, he is starting to take a Deon $anders mentality.

Go TEXANS and BUSH 2006! :redtowel:

This is such utter crap!!I'm all for picking Bush but VY is a good guy. I hate to tell you but everyone of these guys is promoting and making money right now. Leinart was not only on Rome yesterday but he was on his radio show today and so was his agent Leigh Steinberg pimping him. VY comes from a humble background and if people are paying $75 for an autograph once his school career ends then he should be able to make that money. So if you got a job out of college and your boss said, "Hey, I heard you were looking to earn some extra money for your family, do you want to do it?" You'd jump at it. Same thing. His career will not be guaranteed and if he can provide as quickly as possible, more power to him. Most of your heros from Baseball and Football are still getting paid to do the same thing. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and if he wants to always fight and be a winner, then that is fine by me. Leinart saying his stuff is the same thing. Some people are such hypocrites sometimes. They are 22 years old.

As for the USC/UT game. The best team won because guess what...they had more points at the end of the night. You have two teams that ran the table despite expectations and the weight of them. You put them in the grand daddy of them all. You have the whole nation watching. You have 3 of the top players in the nation. That is pressure and the fact that VY stepped up should say a ton. Bush had a good game and was overshadowed by VY. Leinart had a near perfect second half so I'm not sure where the mistakes post came from. They all stepped up and the team that wanted it most won.

If you ask me it just goes to show that he is a plain old sore loser. What he should be saying is how gratefull is is for the tremendous run they had byt winning30+ games in a row.

Hey what's crap about me having changed my opinion about VY? Seeing what has been going on lately with him, I just don't care about what he is turning out to be! Timing is every thing and I think he is starting to head the wrong way is all. I did not say anything about Bush but seems like he is staying quite by waiting for that big announcement in April. I think Reggie is doing fine and I hope he keeps hanging out with LT and stay humble. I’m a big fan of those players that shows their merits out on the FOOTBALL FIELD! If they become a STAR then more $$$ and Fame for them, but until then....

Go TEXANS & BUSH and Other quite good guys for 2006!:redtowel:

Various thoughts:

1. VY didn't pick the price on the autograph session, the promoter did.

2. He signs autographs all the time for free. This was a venue where people could be assured of getting an autograph.

3. He already is a star. If you are MVP of the National Championship of one of the best college football games ever played, and the game lives up to the hype, well, you are a big freaking star already.

4. If you listen to him speak, you can't say it went all to his head.

5. I guess since he went to Texas Children's Hospital last week, then your opinion does another 180.

There is nothing in his background that suggests that VY is a bad person. If people who signed autographs for money were all bad people, then I guess the hall of fames of the various sports of full of bad peoples.

I guess I am having a hard time understanding your point of view. (except for the GO TEXANS part. :texflag:)

VY is a good guy and he is cool, have hung out in the VIP in Austin with him before. He is what you would expect a person to be when you are big man on campus and and everyone wants a piece of you. Some of the fame has gone to his head, but his mom keeps him pretty grounded.

It is crap because it is not a legitimate reason to change your mind and is completely a load. Bush is cutting deals with his agent as we speak. Texans Girl just explained it. It is really funny that you brought this up today because here is the letter in the Chronicle Sports today.

"Houston is fortunate to have three major-league sports teams plus other outstanding athletes. Despite their tremendous abilities and their substantial salaries, rarely do they give back to the community in proportion to their wealth--either in funds or time

Vince Young lost the Heisman, but one day last week he won the hearts of many patients at the Texas Children's Hospital. Without an obvious agent, with absolutely no fee, he talked to the children, signed autographs, took pictures and generally endeared himself forever.

The athletes of my generation were our idols and generally good role models. Houston's superstars need to take lessons form a superstar of tomorrow."

--Milton Nirken, M.D.

What a horrible guy:rolleyes: Just goes to show you what flipflopping on a guy without the facts will get you Gone. Guess time to try something else.

then Go TEXANS 2006:texflag:

Don't get me wrong, I too was impressed by VY and all that he has done... maybe he is hanging around the wrong people lately?

We will have to just wait until Draft Day and hope I am wrong about my opinion and VY can change it back again.

as far as VY and the Longhorns go... I don't mind he spouted off like that after the game.

All I (we) heard before the game was Texas was going to lose. There was a poll on ESPN that talked about USC being the greatest team EVER in college.. Most of the guys on radio/TV talked about USC winning . Yet, the point spread wasn't much in vegas.. BUT almost EVERYONE said USC was going to win..They have TWO heisman winners. They talked about Bush being best RB in our generation ..media talked about Leinart winning the Heisman last season and having a BETTER season THIS year than last.... That is all I heard ... yet when it came down to it... Vince made the plays and came out on top of two heisman winners..

With that said.. I have no doubt Vince, Huff or whoever on that UT team should have a chip on their shoulder.. but anyway...It was a great game that could have gone either way.. like my buddy said the game would boil down to basically who had the ball last.

If you're going to hold something against Vince for charging for autographs, then what's your new opinion on Bush?

How about, We had a good run but just did not get it done. Hats of to Texas. There a great team. I expect to be drafted high in the first round. There are some good athletes, including my own teamate. I think there are a number of us who could be selected #1. I'm just thankful i will have the oppurtunity to play in the nfl and look forward to working hard to take my game to the next level.

so you want a Caned answer? something that almost everyone says?

yeah, it's a pretty bad thing for a quarterback to think highly of his team. i want the quarterback of my team to accept losing and be perfectly fine finishing in 2nd place
