Matt Jones

Ok, much as I might get shouted down for this, but everyone has their opinions...

Matt Jones. The guy is an absolute freak, as this video shows:

Notice:

- He was always two steps in front of the DBs, double coverage didn't make a difference

- He had great hands

- How huge he looks!

Why didn't we draft him? I honestly don't lack the fact that we passed on this guy when our WR #2 isn't set (Bradford is on a one-year, Gaffney doesn't have the pace), we're still not strong at TE as we could be, and now because the Jags :brickwall took him we'll face him twice a season.

Who cares about "he can't run routes, he'll be a flop at WR"? He ran straight up the field and caught the ball easily. He'll be a superstar by the end of the season no doubt.

Who did we take? TJ. Admitidly TJ is doing a fine job and will do well, no problem there, but while we filled up one need on the D-line we missed the option to fill so many more on the offense, which could have made a huge difference.

It might look like I'm judging a player on one play, but I really think we passed on a player who could wind up being a huge impact player in the NFL.

I'm not a pessimist about the Texans, I'll raise an eyebrow if we don't go 16-0 :texflag:...

...But come on! Matt Jones or TJ! Easy choice.

Just my two cents anyhow :tomato:

The guy's a college QB turned NFL WR who has played in a couple of preseason games. Taking him in the first round by the Jags was a reach IMO. Right now he is not even one of their top 2 WR's. Sure he has blazing speed and is the size of a mountain, but that does not make for a quality NFL WR. Who knows how his route running will be or if he will be able to push off of DB's. Remember the other WR the Jags picked 2 years ago? Reggie Williams, they took him with the 9th pick and he had all of 27 catches and 258 yards last season. Just because he can run straight up the field and make a catch does not mean we should have spent a first round pick on him.

Matt Jones was a huge risk pick for the Jags.

At the position we were drafting at it would have been the kind of draft choice that ends a coaches career.

TJ in the long run is exactly what the texans needed and we will be happy with him.

Don't get too pumped about jones until you see how he does in regular season.
