It looks like a trend in the NFL with most teams, the identity of the team has to be completely the same. If the offense is finese, so is the defense! If the defense presents its' self as "smash-mouth", so is the offense with a strong running game! My thought is, what ever works. Offensive players have a different mindset, as do special teams, and defense. It looks as the Texans clearly show the ability to be a high-powered offense, but want to play smash-mouth behind a 5'9" back!! No offense to Davis, but this "O" needs to open up even more, and allow all of their talents to show! As for the defense. NOT SMASH-MOUTH At ALL!!! I don't see one tough guy on our side of the field. No emotional leader, no big hitter. I see more arm tackles at a Texan game, than a "fake" wrestling match. Does anyone wrap up anymore. Does anyone hit hard anymore. It seems these guys have lost all technique, emotion, and desire. My point is this, each unit has to take a special pride in what they do. Off the field, complete team, but between the lines, challenge each other to be the best in the league. Challenge each other to finish in the Top 10 in every category. I have never seen a defense be more soft in my life! Draft-wise, Big hitting MLB, DE, and Safety. All are adequate backups now, but we need toughness and intimidating players, and we simply don't have them!

Dante and Sharper can lay some wood, but other than that, I am hard pressed to come up with someone else

I would have to disagree with you here. Although Dunta is a rookie, I've seen him make some extremely hard hits, along with great open field tackles.

And don't forget about Simmons....ask Chris Brown and Barry Simms.
