a homerun threat who has proven he can carry the load unlike other back(s)

:tv: Does he have a Heisman ?

No but he has 634 carries over three seasons compared to Bush's 420 carries over three seasons, and by the way winning the Heisman means jack squat in the NFL...

:tv: Moroney has more carries but he has 300 less yards . That not something to crow about .

In total in their three year careers Moroney has 3824 total rushing yards and Bush has 3087 total rushing yards. And have you seen the teams USC have played this season? Not the toughest of competition. Fact is Maroney has three seasons with over 1100 yards rushing and at least 10 TD's, Bush has had one season with over 1000 yards and over 6 TD's...

:tv: So Bush is not the best player this year and until proven wrong USC 's not the best team the last three years . The last two years you could argue Bush has been the best player on the best team .

This has really been the first year that Bush was truly the "go-to-guy", obviously he has dominated this season, but its not like he has carried USC over the last three years

i would go as far as to say he isnt the best nfl running back on his own team (bush), much less better than maroney...bush is overhyped, undersized, and usc is about to be exposed in the rose bowl

Love the signature....
by the way, I am an adament D'Brick suporter, but Bush is only 15 lbs, at most, lighter then Marroney. By the way, I was watching some college football thing on ESPN and its incredible how the media is side-stepping UT. They repetadly said Bush is on the verge of 3 national championships and compltely ignored the fact that the only team with a top 10 O and top 10 D syands in their way... gotta love the media....not

:tv: Matt Leinert said Bush should have won the Heisman last year . Bush came in 5th last year for the Heisman .

Bush had 908 yards rushing and 6 TD's last season, Leinhart had 2990 yards passing and 28 TD's, if anyone believes Bush should have won it last year over Leinhart they need their head checked. And of course he would say that, Bush is his teammate.

yeah....but im calling marroney lightweight....so take an undersized back, and take off another 15 pounds, subtract the ability to go between the tackles, add in questions about his ability to be a full time 20 + carry running back, and stir with my belief that he is gonna get mcgaheed by my buddy rashad bobino in the rose bowl, and im gonna have to say that reggie bush is the most overhyped, overrated player in my short lifetime

Ok Gale Sayers was a LIGHT BACK come out of college. And yes I'm comparing their COLLEGE careers not Sayers in the pros.

Bush had less carries b/c he was splitting time with ANOTHER first round RB. I'm not endorsing us picking Bush however you can't possibly deny his playmaking ability.

And please dont give me this look who he played against crap. If that's the case nobody would have play in the NFL that didn't come out of the Big 10 SEC.

But in that case you don't get players like jerry rice or walter payton who came from tiny schools. And you wouldn't get Jerome Mathis.

ok stop comparing Bush to Gale Sayers. Gale Sayers is a HOF and Bush has not even broken any all time records in college. I am not saying Bush is not raw, but he is no Gale Sayers. Now onto Maroney, the kid has talent is very similar to Carnel Williams. They are likely about the same speed and run very similar. He will not go near as high, but he will be a solid back if he can keep his obvious attitude in check. If I was picking though I would take Bush, just because he gives me more options. I can run Bush 15-20 times a game and line him up in the slot 5-10 times and see what happens. They are both solid prospects one is a RB and the other is an athlete.

Yes, Maroney has racked up more carries and yards over his college career than Bush, but all that means to me is he has more tread on his tires for someone who is about the same size as Bush.

Reggie Bush

Less touches and more production from Bush in 2005.

Coach,

I was comparing their ability to be game-breakers in a way few have in college. I know Gale Sayers is a HoF and even Gale Sayers has said bush reminds him of him. So let's just leave that one be.

:tv: The bottom line is Bush can play . It does'nt matter if your a Tsip wanting Vince to be the man or wanting the Texans to trade down , Reggie Bush has had a great year .

When Rocket Ishmail left Notre Dame ... he would have been the first player taken but signed with the Toronto Argonauts . I think this is the closest comparison to Bush . I think Bush is a cut above Rocket .

I think you are right on the money with the Rocket Ismail comparison. I would even say that Ismail may have been more explosive. The major negative on Ismail was his size at only 5-10 - 175 lbs.

Jimmy Johnson was not going to make Rocket Ismail the first overall pick.

But the Bush/Ismail comparison is a fair one. Desmond Howard and Peter Warrick as well. They all turned out to be world beaters in the NFL.

I believe that Warrick only had 3 rushing attempts in his last year at Florida State, and all I can find on Desmand Howard is that he caught 61 passes for 950 yards. No mention of Howard getting any significant carries in college so I think those are bad comparisons.

Maroney is going to be a good one. Almost as good as his former teammate Marion Barber.

:heh:

I'll be rooting for your Cowboys this weekend HUGE. The Big Tuna still has some buisness to take care of, its too early for him to seek refuge and retire yet again :)

from a running back perspective, yes. but the point is Reggie is more of a wideout & return specialist, not a pure RB. my question would be more like if the Texans drafted Bush who would be the #1 WR, AJ or RB? or who really cares "we's got weapons"?

Okay, I'll go with that. Take away Bush's running back ability and he would be on Desmand Howards and Peter Warricks level. :)

I was not impressed with Maroney from that game enough to say he will go to the first round, unless he was recovering from an injury. My 2 cents is that he will fit in best in Pittsburgh, though I doubt they will take a RB that high to replace Bettis. DeAngelo Williams will be picked ahead of him.

:brickwall Jimmy traded up to pick Maryland . He did not have the first pick .
Even more evidence that Jimmy wouldn't have made Ismail the #1 pick.

Had he not made the trade up because Ismail was available and the team holding the top spot picked Ismail, then I think he'd fall into a long line of #1 busts. Good player but #1 overall good? Not even close.

Bush has 31 receptions for 383 yards this season, not 43 for 509, that was last season. Anyway, Maroney may have more tread on the tires, but has proven durability and shown he can be a solid #1 RB. I am not denying Bush has talent and playmaking abilities, but if I was to draft a RB I would rather take a guy like Maroney later in the draft who has 3 successful college seasons under his belt rather than using the #1 overall pick on a RB who had one stellar college season.
