I agree with a lot of what Cuban says. Football is on Sunday, Monday and Thursday every week of the season now and they are wanting more and more money. Something will break sooner or later.

I agree with a lot of what Cuban says. Football is on Sunday, Monday and Thursday every week of the season now and they are wanting more and more money. Something will break sooner or later.

Whats turning me away from the NFL is the bs rules they're implementing thats basically just handcuffing the defense. Its reaching the point of absurdity. I'm still watching though, for now.

It's a good quote, but it doesn't really apply here. The fans want more football. That's why they're offering games on Thursday nights. Too greedy would be the NFL making games pay per view. Sounds like sour grapes by Cuban, to me.

I guess I was thinking more about blackouts and only being able to see some games on NFL Network.

But it does seem like the pot calling the kettle black, I can't even watch the Rockets unless it's nationally televised or I stream it.

Isn't Football the only major sport that doesn't have a game seven days a week? NHL is seven days a week, NBA is seven days a week and so is MLB. Why is the NFL having a game three days a week such a bad thing?

The rules changes seem to be concurrent with the increased frequency of play the league is demanding from the players. "Lessen the injury risk from collisions, while increasing the injury risk from extended play." Hopefully, in the minds of the owners, this equates to an equal, or less overall occurrence of injury.

Lame, I know. Cuban is absolutely correct with this assessment.

I think there will be a combination of things that hurt the NFL.

Rule Changes, Fans not wanting to go to stadiums as much, Greed, Possibly over saturation...

Then again, I don't see the NFL hurting anytime soon. People love the sport toooooo much. Fans have gone through crazy lengths to support and watch their team play...

Scheduling would be pretty hard given the shorter season and the physical nature of the game

Great points. I can't even see our NBA team, so the league basically does not exist for me.

Football is king of American sports right now, and it's still trending upward in it's dominance. Cuban is just jealous and spiteful that the NFL blocked his attempts to buy a team. His rant is what he wishes for the future, not necessarily indicative of reality.

Give me more football games during the season. I never perceive it as a bad thing. Same with extra playoff games. Good for fans, good for the league.

Seriously though, isn't part of the reason we want more football because we only get it 2 or 3 times a week? Take baseball for example. I love baseball, it comes on every day of the week, but there are points throughout that long 6 month regular season, where there's games every single freaking night, that's just too much. I have to get away from it for a few days, a week, maybe 2.

And that's just following the local team only. I don't follow baseball, where every team has 6 games a week, like I do the NFL, where each team still just has one game a week. I'm likely not watching a Mariners-Royals Wednesday night game where as I would definitely catch a Seahawks-Chiefs Thursday nighter. Or I guess Wednesday night if it comes to that.

And as a season ticket holder, I'd prefer ALL games be on Sunday.

I like the way it works now, though I'd rather not have a Thursday night game. But I can live with that. NFL and usually a college game on Thursday, college Saturday, NFL Sunday and Monday. That works and the NFL still makes their gozillions. Stop messing with what ain't broke, before you do break it.

I see it as an opportunity to make more money - yes, but in our feeble lives; we'll take as much football as we can stand. I know I miss some games due to my work schedule, and it's nice to have Thursday night games to fall back on....adding another televised game during the week assures me of satisfying my craving for NFL football!

IMO, it sucks that the NFL won't let Cuban buy the Browns or Jags. I like what he does as an owner and he'd damned sure make those teams competitive. He's brash and outspoken, but his love for the game (sports in general, really) can't be denied.

Hockey is 82 also, then up to 28 playoff games for each team in the championship round in basketball....hockey also, I think.

The players absolutely hate Thursday night games because they don't get a chance to rest and recover from their previous game. It's not healthy, and belies the truth that Goodell's concern for safety in the league is a sham. To me, it's mere cash grab by Goodell, and Cuban is probably more right about this than he is wrong. There is a point of over-saturation that can degrade the product. Thursday night doesn't get good matchups, but CBS was willing to shovel money towards the NFL anyway.

Watch as Goodell tries to push the EU market more...I suspect that will be the beginning of the bubble bursting.

I would like to see it more like this:

Wednesday Junior High School
Thursday High School
Friday College Football
Saturday Pro Football

Leave Sunday for it's intended purpose. Reduce the chances of HS road hazards on Friday Night. Mitigate the travel at the High School level by keeping them close enough to return for classes the next day.

I get that. But, they could schedule the bye week prior to the Thursday night game. That would give the players ample rest before and after the game.

This has always been my suggestion, as well. TNF games are not bad in concept, but they need to take into account the health impact on players themselves. Give teams a bye the week before the game and problem solved.

As far as match ups, it has always been a toss up when pre-scheduling a season. I'd still take a game with two mediocre teams over no game at all. Besides, if you don't like the match up, the solution is wonderfully simple: don't watch.

This topic came up on the radio some time ago, and I remember it was brought up that every team would need to have an extra bye week if everyone was going to get one the week before their Thursday game.

That would push the season to 18 weeks but wouldn't add any games. You would actually get to watch more football since you can't really watch every game as it is right now.
