Mario Williams Combine Performance

Listening to Casserly talk to Rachel Nichols (she is damn good looking!) just now, does anyone else get the feeling that one of the only reasons we drafted him was for his combine performance? He makes reference to his vertical & 40 time twice. Just goes to prove that you SHOULD work out at the combine. :twocents:
 
The Cowboys took DeMarcus Ware last year because of his combine performance.

You'd a thunk Vince would have been paying attention.
 
Show me anything in his stats that would make him leapfrog Reggie. His sacks came against weaker opponents and that's alarming.

We just drafted an NBA player over Bush...
 
That's exactly what we did. The guy wasn't even the MVP of his own team. He trained for the combine, did really well and now he's a #1 pick. He may end up being a decent player, but he was never worth the #1 pick in the entire draft. Vince and Reggie will both have much better careers!

If you didn't hear about Mario Williams before the combine, you know absolutely nothing about college football or the draft.

Its called a stat sheet Mr. Professor. Show me anything on there that shows Mario worthy of going ahead of Reggie Bush. Please, I'm begging...show me something other than size and leaping ability. We drafted a power forward over Reggie "freaking" Bush. People can beat this thing to death and its still what it is. Nothing Mario can do on defense will come close to matching what RB would have done for us on offense...period!

I ain't saying they made the right choice.

But those of you that are saying Williams was the wrong pick because he racked up stats against weaker competition might want to check into the defenses Bush faced the past 3 years.

It probably wouldn't change your opinion of who the Texans should've drafted but hopefully it'd make you realize you shouldn't use that angle for your argument.
