Marcus Thomas

As the combine continues, we are getting some solid information on potential draft picks. My mid round pick for this year could be Marcus Thomas of Florida. Below is the link to the article posted on HoustonTexans.com about him.

At 6-2 and 315 pounds, Thomas does not tower over opponents like Branch, but athletically he may be superior. Able to do a standing back flip in pads, Thomas offers NFL teams a player big enough to play inside to stuff the run while at the same time providing a push up the middle in the passing game....

Listening to Thomas, it appears as though his banishment from college football has proved to be a wake-up call. .....

“After I felt like football was taken away from me, I started working hard,” Thomas said. “After I got dismissed from the team for a week I was just hurting, but then my coach told me just to get back on it and from them on I was just working.”.....

It appears that Thomas learned his lesson from being away from the game for some time. When the Gators won the National Championship, it was a stab to the heart. Anyone who has been away from the game for a little while, and has to see his teammates celebrate the championship, is going to come back with something to prove. If he has just a decent combine today, I could see him falling into the mid-rounds. Remember, this guy was once compared to Alan Branch, he could potentially become a steal. When the guy was on the field he was a straight up sack artist. Paint me a picture of him in steel blue.:marionaner:

Your right him and Branch were competing to be the first DT taken until Thomas got in trouble.

Guys got serious ability i'd take a chance on him he'd be much better than anybody we have right now at that position.

I agree that the D-line and the O-line must improve. Which has priority is the problem? We are closer to having a D-line than an O-line. Do the Texans want a top RB? This draft could go a lot of different directions, but I would say these are the top 3 positions on the minds of the Texans.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Kubiak said we need to get some pressure on the QB next year, but he also said that our protection must improve. I get the feeling that we'll be drafting some big-boys this draft and looking for secondary through free agency. We could pick up Brown with #8 and use a third-fourth round pick on Thomas. The guy had 26 tackles and 4 sacks........In 5 games this year playing in the SEC!
