Is he as good as these guys?
beerlover said:positive news, congratulations to all parties involvedjust one question, the 5 million bonus would that apply to this years salary cap? I'm thinking this was close to about the amount of cap room still left for this year, thus setting up for another aggressive aquisition off sesaon. The signing also suggests the Texans have a very positive working enviornment one that players enjoy being a partner with.

Probably not. We'll have to wait and see what the annual base salaries look like and whether they just did a bolt-on to his existing contract (started everything in '05) or whether they also restructured his 2004 base as part of the deal like they did with Aaron Glenn's extension. If they included part of his 2004 base into that signing bonus, it could actually lower his cap number for this year. Either way, it looks like a very affordable deal that won't break the bank. I wonder if Payne is next...Grid said:so aj... did he just break the bank on our salary cap?
As I recall, I thought Coleman was about 4.3 per year salary cap now, so the 3 per year salary cap (9 mill over 3 years) moving forward would be nice.aj. said:Either way, it looks like a very affordable deal that won't break the bank...
Marcus is a steady player but he's not having a Pro Bowl year.Hopefully he wont get shafted at the pro bowl this year.
9 mill over 3 years is quite a reduction.aj. said:... Coleman's cap number ... could actually be $5.5.
As I recall, it was reported that the Texans were aggressively trying to get Winfield to visit. That being the case, I would think that this means they were prepared to pay Winfield in addition to:aj. said:...
Walker was signed on Mar 1
Wade was signed on Mar 2
Smith was signed on Mar 2
Winfield was signed by the Vikes on Mar 4
I think the money 'earmarked' for Winfield was used on WWS and used to re-sign all the EFAs and RFAs.
Agreed. Perhaps they would have pulled the trigger on a trade to move up to get Taylor (and then not resigned Coleman), or another top 7 pick, or perhaps a DL prospect.aj. said:If the Texans signed Winfield they probably wouldn't have drafted Robinson.
It was reported in the Chronicle in late Feb that Aaron Glenn was trying to get him to come down here so you know the Texans wanted him, but he chose not to visit. I'm glad it worked out the way it did. Dunta is a fine CB.As I recall, it was reported that the Texans were aggressively trying to get Winfield to visit
