Ok, lets say we are going offensive line in the second round, or just Mangold is the BPA on the board. Do we take him? Obviously with Flanagan signed the center position seems well maned, would he make a poor guard?

I was a big fan of Mangold at #33 until we got Flanagan. Now, however, we have a starter and a young backup. Now I'm looking pretty hard at the #2 CB spot, particularly given the players likely to be available. OLine wise, Winston's probably the only player I'd take at #33.
Another possibility is OLB, given the prime talent that may well fall out of the 1st this year. Wong isn't young, Greenwood hasn't proven himself yet and I'm not sure about our depth.

Best Player Available (It would be tough to pass on Leonard Pope, if he is there!). If needs, then I go with Winston or McNeil. Flanagan is good.

Our 2nd round pick may be a good one to trade down on. There will definitely be some players being targeted there. If we were to trade down about 8-10 spots and get an extra 3rd, that would be great. After all, if we're looking at OT, CB, LB, FS... those are very deep positions... guys like Colledge, Scott, Ko Simpson, Hodge, and a number of CBs will probably be there in the middle of the second.

Allen ran a sub 4.4 fourty coming off of a serious injury. He's certainly not too slow. I'd be reluctant to draft him due to injury concerns but not because of concerns about his speed.

I don't believe Mangold will still be there in the 2nd. Another player with a 1st rd. grade who seems to rarely get mentioned as a possiblity for the Texans 2nd. despite filling a need at Safety is Darnell Bing- (6-1¾, 225) ran his 40s in 4.63 and 4.53. Had a 10-foot-5 long jump, 38-inch vertical jump, 4.25 short shuttle, 6.80 three-cone drill, and 21 lifts. Had very good ball skills and looked great in position drills.
when the scouts say something like "looked great in position skills" take that as eye opening, he is wire'ry strong, excellent in the open field, reads the playbook & is able to react and close. Nice short area burst. Blitzes effectively. Fluid hips. Comes up and plays the run well. Form tackler who likes to hit. Playmaker in the defensive backfield who creates turnovers, like to use hand punch (reminds me of Derrick Johnson).
just a thought, I haven't seen too many people even enter his name into the conversation so here it goes. makes even more sense if the Texans take fellow USC junior Reggie Bush, he could be the counterpoint on defense a playmaker in the same mold with the kind of measureables to hold down the Safety position the next 10 years.

I think Bing would look great in a Texans uni. Plus, it does fill a need. He had a pretty good Pro Day & I would be shocked if he were there at 33. Big or Winston & I am happy. Or Pope, but it really isn't a need.

Well, if we pick a O-Line guy, we will hear about how bad our secondary is. If we pick a Safety, we will hear how bad our O-Line is. Good thing we have 3 picks relatively early (4 if you count Reggie).

Bing doesnt really fill a need- we've a need at FS not SS..bing is a good SS(basically the safety that plays the run.blitzes most of the time,which earl and brown will do fine)

maybe I'm wrong (doubt it) Bing by all accounts will be there when the Texans pick the 33rd selection in the 2006 draft (assuming Casserly has not traded it away). Darnell Bing has played in a Pro-Style defense and his game translates to the NFL better than any prospect you mentioned Maddict5 
I cannot help but think about the Seahawks rookie MLB Dynamo Lofa Tatupu who led them to the Superbowl, he too was from USC and very close in size.

I could also see taking a top corner in the second if one falls and suffering through a Brown/Earl combo for 1 more year. But I just hated watching D-Rob throwing his hands in the air as the Safetys repeatedly blew their coverage and gave up a TD.
If we're going to play cover 2 we need coverage safetys.
