With the debate on here about taking a lineman with the first pick (god knows I have been screaming that for 3 years) vs. Reggie Bush.....I thought it was time to get my fingers on a little video.....

...hands, concentration and vision
...returns kicks
...breaks tackles
...just flat-out makes plays

When you bring in someone like this, it simply raises everyones game. This means more than anything to a team playing a team game....See Jim Brown, OJ, Walter Payton, Earl Campbell.

Trade down, multiple picks, Oline? NOT!

If this doesn't get your whistle wet, you need to go to the soccer forum.

Take a look: http://www.texaswebhosting.com/reggiebush/

Great Video it just reiterates what kind of special athlete we are gonna get if we kee our steady pace of loosing wich sucks but Reggie is special. i havent been this excited about a player since LT Came out Of TCU and even then i had no clue he was gonna be as big as he is now.

that is a nice video, but where's the one of him running between the tackles? or the one where he's a rb and not a taller dunta hall? the kid has a tremendous amount of get up & go, but that's not going to get him ANYWHERE on this team if he cant break 2 tackles first (without running backwards, that doesnt work in the pros). what i saw is an amazing talent that fit perfectly on the team ... it's my opinion that none of that talent would get used on this one because he wont have wide open spaces to haul butt through.

That guy never even hits anybody. :)

He learned that from P-Buch.

Ya know what's gonna happen if he comes here though:

50 yd. run brought back: holding.

25 yd. run brough back: block in the back.

30 yd. run brought back: holding.

Punt.

Carr would like him though. He wouldn't even check off AJ, he'd just go right to the dump off on every pass.

I've seen a lot of Reggie Bush. I watch as much college football as a can. And I know this about running backs.

1. College skill does not always translate to pro skill
2. No running back can run without great blocking.
3. Running backs get hit more often than any man on the field, and are usually one bad play away from ending their career on an injury.

Yeah, Reggie Bush can return kicks too, but we've already got a great kick returner. We don't need him for that.

Here's another couple things I know. First, the Pac-10 has some of the worst defense in division 1A and has inflated the stats of most of the offensive players in that conference. I also know that the last time an offensive lineman was taken with the first overall pick, it was for Orlando Pace by the Rams, and that worked out pretty well for them, as they won the Superbowl soon thereafter, not to mention that Pace is at the pro-bowl every single year and is probably the best left tackle in football.

I don't see how this is hard to understand. We could get Peyton Manning, Torry Holt, and LaDainian Tomlinson, and our offense would still be garbage. You can have all the talent in the world at the skill positions, and it doesn't mean anything without a good offensive line. Getting Ferguson will not be a wasted pick.

Seriously How Many 1st rounders Does Lt have Blocking for him? sure talent helps but i think it more coaching than wasting 1st overall picks on Left Tackles that they wouldnt play untill two or three years down the road anyway at least what they were drafted as.

and if youre gonna say the Pac 10 has some of the worst defenses then David Carr should of never gotten drafted he played in the WAC:cool: were a Defense hasnt been seen up to this date.

Bottom line like All the supposed Experts Says you Cant pass up a reggie Bush. now may be later when they have the Combines that changes and more than likely it will or it will only solidify him as the best Prospect Out there wich is going to be tuff i still think 1st overall is going to be Matt Lienart just because he's a field general.

1. College skill does not always translate to pro skill isnt that the Truth we learned this the hardway we got ourself a tim couch wannabe.

in 2003 the chargers went 4-12 (tomlinson's best season as a pro). in 2004 the chargers went 12-4 despite LT an off year at 3.9 ypc. what changed in 2004 that made such a difference? glad you asked. 4 of the chargers' 5 starters on the offensive line were picked up in 2004. their qb was on his way out and they felt he needed to be replaced. apparently the best RB in the league wasnt enough for him to keep his job ... what could bring on such an improvement? it's amazing what a tight end and an offensive line can do.

as for how many 1st rounders do they have? the only mistake IMO in hindsight is using that top 2004 pick on a want instead of a need ... they drafted the popular pick which was qb, when their holes were LT (gallery) and FS (taylor) ... although that might have made it more difficult to swindle the giants. so no 1st rounders, although IMO they should have one at LT, but they did pick up a ringed veteran LT in roman oben to keep things afloat.

please dont use tomlinson as reasoning to have 1 person carry a pathetic team.

Sure, let's draft a RB with our first pick. Let's see, that gives us a RB we have to pay top 5 money to, add that to a RB we just signed to a $22 million contract extension and put those two behind the worst offensive line in the NFL while neglecting our need on the offensive line and tight end. Throw in our aging defensive line (Payne & Walker) and possibly needing a #2 CB and a FS. Sounds like disaster to me. I don't care how much of a playmaker Bush is, if we start taking playmakers high in the first round just because we can, we'll be drafting in the top 5 every year. We are at a point where we need to start addressing needs. With possibly having the first pick or at least a top 5 pick, it gives us a good chance to trade down and draft several solid players to fill several needs instead of drafting Bush.

One thing this video does show is how mych more talented USC then their opponents. Easy to make highlight plays vs scrub teams. How would he do on a scub team vs better talent?

That is the exception not the norm. Yes you can find good talent late or sign a "known good" FA that was drafted low. Getting a starting LT that is exceptional in the 3rd round is virtually impossible. Show me all the top-notch LT drafted in the 3rd round.

Got to love the drama but this losing should end soon. A couple of wins will make us #3 or #4 in the draft. The other day should have been a blowout and really the whole season has been a perfect storm. I hate the rule that says the team who played teams with more combined wins drafts after one with a similar record. Somehow we'll at least tie for worst record and maybe close with a 3-2 record. This should chill all offseason banter so we can start the trade up for Reggie Bush threads!

4-12 this year 12-4 next year :texans: A line is coming it will happen

I did see one crazy statistic about him last night on ESPN. His average touchdown length is something like 34.5 yards.

Is Bush talented.....absolutly, he is VERY talented and I wish we could pick him up, but to do so would set the team back. He would be an upgrade from DD for sure, but that ISN'T the spot that we need to have upgraded. O-line, TE and some more defense are must haves if we are ever going to climb out of the bottom of the division. In fact, a reasonable case could be made that the DEFENSE needs the most work. Look at what Chicago is doing with a great defense. Kind of like the Ravens and Tampa of years past. With that sort of defense we would very likely be sitting at 500 ball and maybe even better, even with the crummy O-line issues.

There are very, very few left tackles in the NFL that are drafted lower than the first round and every left tackle that you would consider elite was drafted in the 1st round. For every San Diego example you throw out, you can find 15 other teams that drated a LT in the first round and that tackle is doing great. If you take Bush in the first round, you are essentially gambling that your franchise left tackle is going to be there in the 2nd round and history shows that doesn't happen very often at all. Or, you're saying draft a left tackle next year because Bush is coming out now, but then you're paying Bush top pick money to perform behind a subpar O-line.

That is actually funny that you say that because I believe that if Reggie Bush or D'Brickinshaw Ferguson played for the Longhorns there would be unwavering support for either one of them. But because neither one does and Vince Young does, we are stuck with the blind faith Vince Young=God posts.
