M. Sherman O Coordinator/McNair Hasn't Decided #1

John "I voted for Reggie Bush before I voted against him" McClain is making me sick. Instead of basing reasons the Texans should draft Vince Young on his talent to make is argument legitimate, he says that once VY talks to Kubiak and tells him how much he wants to come home, blah blah, blah, blah. His reasoning is ridiculous. I know he's not discounting Young's talent (because he has gone on and on about it). But I wish he would quit using the "Hometown Hero" syndrom to explain why he thinks that VY should be drafted first.

And now, he's trying to appease Aggies and Longhorns. He's getting more and more like John Kerry everyday.

If they get Mike Sherman as the offensive coordinator, I'll be surprised. The folks in Green Bay thought he was railroaded. Look for him to get hired as HC by someone, and if he doesn't, if McNair wants him bad enough, he'll have to fork up HC type bucks.

BTW, I'm hearing that Dan Snyder ticked off a boatload of owners by paying Greg Williams all that money just to stay as the Redskins DC. The going rate for coordinators skyrocketed because of that, and the owners are NOT happy. There's a link to that somewhere. If someone asks, I'll try to find it.

Mort was on Mike and Mike this morning and he said he is not sure if Sherman is getting a job. He said he doesn't understand it because Martz and he were .600 coaches in the league. He said though that many teams are tiring of retreads and they are looking for the next John Fox, Lovie Smith, Marvin Lewis. He thinks the other teams with openings should be hired soon. I think he was saying the Raiders are looking at Lineham and Cam with Rivera to get a second interview.

I hear ya SteelBlue, sometimes McClain gets absolutely goofy and childish in his "analysis" of what reasons someone like an NFL HC would base his decision on for selecting the #1 overall.

Well maybe the QB from Holy Cross or Youngstown St can come tell McNair how he loves this place and he can get drafted too.:redtowel:

Wow, after reading those articles, can you see Kubiack as head coach with Mike Sherman as Offensive Coordinator and Jerry Gray as Defensive Coordinator......add in there the assistants Kubiack will bring from Dever..it would be a hellova start to a coaching staff I'd say that with alot of NFL Experience.

I was listening to them talk about that this morning as well. I was hoping on Al Saunders but they did mention he was being looked and being heavily considered for coaching jobs. They said something to the effect of whether Sherman came here, since he doesn't run an offense anything near what Kubiak runs.....and Kubiaks offense would surely be fostered here in H-Town, that Sherman would have to subject himself to Kubiak's scheme. They were also speaking of Mike Martz and that he's always a possibility.

It's really comforting to see/read/hear that McNair is willing to do whatever necessary, $upplying and $upporting Kubiak'$ efforts to bring in the best $taff as long as the team is headed in the right direction.:yahoo:

Mike Sherman is going to interview for the head coaching job available in Buffalo:

Dick Jauron, who started his coaching career as an assistant in Buffalo in 1985, will be the first to interview for the Bills' vacant head coaching position, reports News writer Allen Wilson. Ousted Green Bay coach Mike Sherman will also be interviewed, while Jerry Gray - the defensive coordinator last season - will not.

I concur. I live in Fresno, CA, so I only get the Chronic's articles when you guys post them. McClain is doesn't seem like he's all there. I understand people are high up on players like VY when there is an actual reason. It seems like McClain has a new reason each week. It's also funny because I'm a republican, and I totally did your John "Bruce Sprinstein was going to play at my victory parade" Kerry reference.

I think McClain says the stuff that he wants to come true and then hopes it sticks so he can be one of the only guys to say, "I told you so." Unfortunately for him it rarely comes true but at the same time no one can remember all the sides he took so they have nothing to bust him on..lol

Correct myself here. Those guys were the ones up for the Rams, not Raiders.

I do agree with this and think it is silly. Once someone is in the NFL it doesn't matter what school they played for, it only matters who they are playing for now. As much as I loved what VY did for Texas, once he goes to play for the Titans, all bets are off. Actually, because I think he is going to be so good I will probably "dislike" him more in another uniform.

Do people really watch NFL games and go "yea former Aggie, or yea former Longhorn!"? I am a Longhorn fan but loved Bucky Richardson when he played for the Oilers, I never looked at him as a former Aggie. (yeah, he was pretty lame at the NFL level but was fun to watch and cheer for).

Maybe this is not the case for fans that are bigger college fans than NFL fans, who knows.

I thought Al Saunders was now the favorite for the Rams job?

Sherman and Kubiak both coached at A&M, but I hope Kubiak brings someone in that shares his offensive philosophy instead of trying to mold someone to his system. I think we saw enough of that with Capers and Palmer.

Yeah I think that is silly. We need wins. I do not believe that McNair is hurting for revenue (tickets, licensing, etc) at this point in time where he is looking to a local product for help with revenue streams.

The idea that the Texans have to pick Vince Young because of the money that McNair will make is bogus. No NFL owner is hurting for money because of the revenue sharing program and the giant TV deals that the league gets.

The Texans will sell out games regardless of who is on the team if they are winning games. It wouldn't matter if Vince Young is the QB or Tony Banks. Winning teams are bigger than hometown heros. Even Roger Clemens couldn't sell out games earlier this season when the Astros were one of the worst in the league.

Thanks. I just watched a Tivo'd version of NFL Live where they said the Raiders were getting nervous about Saunders going to the Rams. I guess it was old information and besides, everyone is just throwing stuff against the wall to see if it sticks at this point. Everyone is turning into Peter Gammons! :)

Yup..lol. I am wondering the same thing as Mort though. It isn't like Martz or Sherman were bad coaches and they didn't win. I am wondering if people are scared off by Martz's health? All Saunders deserves a shot. That guys has been waiting and has had some great offenses.

How come no one has made any mention of the Lopez article about Casserley/Reeves? I thought he made a good argument for only keeping one of them. In my opinion, I think Casserley should go and Reeves would stay on in Casserley's position. I also think that if you keep both of them, then it is going to severely limit the HC powers

I agree. I believe that McNair is starting to base more of his decisions on what Reeves says and not Casserly. I think Casserly is a transition guy only and then he is gone.

Lopez, taking for granted of course that most fans want Casserly gone, writes an article filled with nothing but wishful thinking, backed up by erroneous assumptions based on what he would do if he were McNair. He's just as sickening as McClain. Throwing BS on the wall to see how much of it sticks.

Good article? NOT!

So you are a Lopez fan?:) I will say that he is full of it most of the time but it is an interesting question and something I have also thought about. When is the temporary tag taken off Reeves?
