What do you think about that? I didn't see it coming...... a QB, then a TE...

odd I think.

I didn't like the Stafford pick, but I thought the Pettigrew pick was very solid.

I'm not shocked that they went all offense because they needed some of everything..

The Lions had an outstanding draft today imo.

I disagree Vinny. THey had a nice OT right there in Oher to protect Stafford and they passed on him, and then they had Meleauga and Lauranitis sitting right there and took Delmas. I think Delmas would be a nice pick and all, but they were thinking about getting Curry big time, and would have made out like a bandit with turning around and getting Meleauga in the 2nd. I think they made some poor picks.

many experts think that pettigrew blocks like a LT and can also catch the ball.

Just because Other was there doesn't mean he is going to be as good as you think. The Lions have a hell of a QB/TE/WR combo now and Delmas is someone I coveted here. They had an outstanding first day in my book.

I fully agree.

Taking Stafford is a definite risk but the love the guy and he's got huge potential. When you draft a QB #1 you've got to help him out the best you can. Pettigrew was a very solid choice at #20. He'll be a safety valve for Stafford in the truest sense in the term. Guy's gonna block to keep Matt alive + he's a big targer to dump off to. Some teams liked Oher, some teams didn't. I understand them passing him up for Pettigrew.

The Delmas pick surprised me. Not saying it was a bad choice, it just surprised me.

I liked the Pettigrew pick by the Lions. He'll be a nice security blanket for Stafford once he takes the field, and with Johnson likely drawing double coverage to his side Pettigrew should be able to exploit the middle of the field. I think they might want to pick up a RB in day two of the draft to pair with Kevin Smith.

Pettigrew is an excellent blocker as well.

I think that Oher is going to be really good, so I'd want to make sure that my QB is protected. The Lions O line is awful.

Delmas is a good player and all and someone that I would like to have, but I think they should have gone with the LB's who I mentioned earlier.

Pettigrew is a great player to have though. I just think they should have address either more on the O line or the defense.

Perhaps getting a starting FS is more important to them than getting an ILB who can't cover? I call em' like I see em' and I missed more than a few in this draft but I nailed it on Rey Rey. There is a reason he fell.

If you go Stafford at #1 you have to get him some help. They have decent OT's. Oher would have been an upgrade on their line but Pettigrew is a significant upgrade for their offense. Great pick. With Pettigrew on the field you basically have three OT's on running plays and you get your rookie QB a safety valve.

Completely agree. I thought they should have gone a different route than Stafford, but since they did you need to help him out. Their OT's are servicable and RT Gosder Chelius was a 1st rounder last year so grabbing a stud TE is not a bad move.
