Lets make Steve Slaton Rookie of the Year!

Mari-OWNED!

Bucco Bruce
http://www.nfl.com/partner?partnerType=rookies

All I ask is for everyone on this board to spam vote Slaton for Rookie of the Year. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, whoever to just take a couple seconds out of their day to vote for Slaton, even if it is only one time.

How awesome would it be, with everyone expecting Matt Ryan, or Chris Johnson to win, and then hear Slaton's name as the winner? (Answer: Very Awesome!)

So let's do it people!

I have my laptop here next to my TV, so I will be spam voting all day.
And I will do so, as long as this vote remains up. It's so easy to do, and
Slaton's gonna get a couple thousand votes from me.

I use Firefox, open up 5 tabs of the vote.
Vote on one, click "vote again", then go on to the next tab.
Rinse and repeat.

I'm up to 20 votes; working on 100 by the end of the day.

...interesting that none of the rooks featured in the splash photo are in the running for RotY. You'd think they'd update the photo...

Doing my part, and somebody should post this on the main Texans board, DGDB&D, Battleredblog and houstondiehards.

Steve needs to win something besides rookie of the month or whatever.

Matt Ryan should give half of the proceeds to Michael Turner. That
dude is the "Mario Williams" of halfbacks!

Personally, I'd just let it go.

Those other guys helped their teams to the play-offs.

SS helped this team to a non-losing record......

pathetic. Let's let it go, and make some noise next year, when he's starting from day one, and wins the NFL rushing title.

Boooooo! Don't for a second hesitate from this post. Steve deserves all the credit he gets from us Texans fans. Voted multiple times and will continue to do so...

voted many times, and will do so again.

I detect partisanship with the other four guys having their videos available for voters to watch in the box below their names, but Slaton doesn't have his. WTF?

Just to the right click on the video link beside Slaton's name. The video is not even of his best run though. I guess until we have a winning season we'll be the Rodney Dangerfield's of the NFL.

he can only win Rookie of the Year when he's a ROOKIE. this is the only time we fans can "make some noise" on his behalf.

...now if you aren't a fan...

It isn't a most valuable rookie award, it is supposed to go to the best rookie. That could have been a guy on the 0-16 Lions.

Also take a moment to consider that these electronic votes - RotY, ProBowl, etc. - (notice they're endorsed by major TV sponsors) go a long way into determining which teams have the most active/rabid fan base - which in turn determines which team gets prime time games on the toob.

Ditto. I've voted about 20 times and I will continue later. Just showing a little appreciation for a great rookie year.

Thanks Steve!

Well put

YES! Thanks everyone who is voting. I can't believe how many people are supporting this!

Keep up the great work! We've got 23 more days to do so! :doot:

I started a birthday thread for him.

Slaton will carry us to the promised land someday. Really.

So, I'm going to go vote for him again.

I agree with the 'C' rating for Flacco.
Today, the Dolphins didn't bring the heat, and they paid for it.
Slaton was more important for our wins, than Flacco was for his
team. The coaches just gave Joe a 'don't screw it up' order, and his
defense would insure he received many possessions to get it right.

So, quit lamenting, and get on your clicker, to VOTE FOR STEVE!

So click it, Boy!!

Well, let's take a looksee....

Steve Slaton (3rd round) - 1282 yds rush w/4.8 avg and 9 TDs, 377 yds rec with 1 TD.

Chris Johnson (1st round) - 1228 yds rush w/4.9 ang and 9 TDs, 260 yds rec with 1 TD

Matt Ryan (1st round) - 3440 yds passing, 215 per game with 16 TDs and 11 Int. 87.7 QB rating (#2 rushing offense in the NFL)

A third rounder that out-performs 1st rounders seems like a no-brainer to me. That said, it'll be Matt Ryan because he's a QB and he doesn't play for the Texans.

Really??

Such cynicism.........

Well hell, how many times was he up for rookie of the week? How many times did he win it? I know there were at least a couple times he was nominated and deserved to win it, but did he? Nah

Eh, I'm not really worried about it, but I just think it was impressive to watch a projected 3rd down RB from the 3rd round perform the way he did.

No kidding. One game he had 156 yards rushing and was beat out by Spencer Larson?! I mean WTF?

QB Joe Flacco had a mediocre game (a 59.1 passer rating), but he didn't turn the ball over. The Ravens are 9-1 when he doesn't throw an interception. Ike interviened causing near total destruction but still the Ravens came, let me see if I can find the box score......oh yeah here it is - Joe Flacco 15/23 185 yds. 2 TD 0 Int. Sage Rosenfels 23/38 294 yds. 1 TD 4 Int. Kubiak rested Steve if I remember correctly because he was exhausted. the point is Flacco helped his team to advance in the playoffs. turnovers are a critical, overlooked, aspect of Football & he has excelled in this area, he doesn't seem to have a typical QB ego, Joe plays mature beyond his years or what you would expect from a rookie QB. imagine if the Texans did not turn the ball over they just might be the ones in the playoffs? so yes it is important, not gaudy numbers or highlight reel material but playing smart, safe football wins football in the playoffs. Steve did everything he could to help the Texans win & if not for him the Texans would never finish @ 8-8 but a QB who manages the game helping his team win in the playoffs is the much bigger picture. :)

My point is EXACTLY the one you made. The Ravens' coaches don' t ask Joe to WIN THE GAME. He's the beneficiary of an ELITE defense. Don' understate that when comparing his situation to the Texans. The Ravens CONTINUALLY give Flacco a short field to work with, AND due to the defense FORCING turnovers, he'll get EXTRA POSSESSIONS.

Especially early in the season, the defense of the Texans would put the team down two scores before kickoff.

When you play from behind on offense, you WILL throw on almost every down. There is no mystery to the defense what you're gonna do.

Just go back and see what happened to the Ravens when they fell down to the Colts by two scores, and you'll see my point.

I don't know about that, seems to me a QB who doesn't turn the ball over, AT ALL, is doing what the coaches ask. thats how you WIN football games, especially IN THE PLAYOFFS. what is it now AFC Championship Game?

Rookie of the year or chance @ a Superbowl, still people doubt.
