LenDale, WHAT'S UP?????

TEXANFAN23435

Some food for thought, anyone else wondering if LenDale White sabotaged his combine and private workouts? Throw in his recent statements, current apperance and I think you have someone really doing everything within his power to avoid being drafted early by a weaker team so he would have the opportunity to slide and be drafted later by a team like:

18 DAL
21 NE
27 CAR
28 JAX
29 NYJ (Not a Playoff Team, yet! but they would jump at the chance of having him lineup with ML or VY.)
30 IND

Each one of these teams could use a LenDale White and would laugh at the teams who didn't sniff this hoax out earlier. Imagine if LW had showed up at the combine in playing shape and blew everyone away like he's certainly capable of doing. He would easily be a top 10 pick. Read nothing into his current presentation, this guy is the 20 - 25 carries per game RB that a Franchise can be built around or be a strong step toward improving a playoff caliber team. How sick would it be if his stock fell far enough to land him in NE or INDY? Sure he left some money on the table but that could easily be made up by enjoying the playoffs each year out of the gate with a playoff caliber team versus making a little more money, lining up each Sunday and taking a beating, while you wait for a team to be assembled around you.

Bottom line...I really feel this guy is manipulating his draft position. Anyone want to bet against this guy not being ready for the start of NFL mini camps?

One team you don't mention is the one he supposidly spent the most time with at his pro day. That team was the Steelers. Lot of people felt the Steelers might have been encouraging him to be a no show in effect. Hard to say on this one. You fail to mention the Texans at the number 1 pick of the 2nd round. That might happen particularly if we go for Willimas and pass on Bush.

It is pretty crafty how he gave himself a slight hamstring pull. If VY is the Chuck Norris of the draft, I guess White is MacGyver. (yeah, maybe if I slightly tweak my hammy using some toe nail clippers and some chewing gum, I can play for the Steelers....)

I would jump for joy if he slipped into R2, but there is no way Indy let's him slip through their fingers. Dallas would have to be doing back flips if he's available at the 18th pick. He's a Parcell's kind of back. I think he will be the Cowboys to turn down.

Yeah, players always tank on purpose so they can drop out of the top 10 into late round 1, early round 2, so they can win. I'm very sure that every player values winning over money, also. </sarcasm>

Do you realize how much $$$ he lost by his poor showing? A top 10 pick commands double digit signing bonuses and guarnateed money for 5-7 years. A late 1st round, early 2nd round pick commands SIGNIFICANTLY less than that. No way would any player voluntarily give up lots of cash to play for a slightly better team

Ditto, as no agent would allow him to arrive at the combines and private workouts FAT AND OUT OF SHAPE. NOT TO MENTION, MAKING CRAZY REMARKS TO THE PRESS. Think about it. He's still going to make a lot of money and contracts can always be re-worked.

No way in hell!!!The Cowboys have Julius Jones and Marion Barber. RB is not a need. If anything they are going with D again a LB or Safety. If they pick O it will be WR to go with TO since they have other older guys.

He's the most suited RB coming into the draft this year, that can carry the ball 20 to 25 times a game with 65% of those going between the T's. This is why I've personally liked him better than RB. As for the Cowboys, Parcells and their fans are very unforgiving when their RB's do not produce. Their running game got Bledsoe killed last year. If LW is there at #18, I wouldn't be suprised to see the Cowboys take him and move one of their current backs for a mid round pick.

Ok, how did no one else get the 'FOOD for thought' joke to the newest member of the cheesy poof fan club....

'The refridgerator' White is treading in dangerous water with his approach... he easily cost himself millions of dollars... just so he could play for a contender. RIGHT!

The lack of a consistent running game had more to do with the OL than a lack of talent at RB. With Jones, Barber and Thompson, Parcells has the numbers to work with.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them draft a RB at some point in the draft. But to use a 1st round pick on a RB 2 years after you traded out of the first before the first RB was taken off the board (remember when everybody thought it was a lock they were about to draft Steven Jackson?) would be stupid.

And I don't think he sabotaged his workouts. He had an injury (hamstring?) that kept him from performing and probably led to him gaining a few extra pounds.

OK, let's get over Dallas and say LenDale falls to NE(21) or let's say his performance has forced him to fall to 30, Indy. Anyone here feel NE or Indy would pass on him. If NE or Indy picks him, anyone think he would arrive to camp fat and out of shape? Don't forget, this man has an agent and if my client arrived at the combine and his private workouts fat and out of shape, I would have dropped him because he just cost me a lot of money, not stay on. Hell, the damage is already done!!! RB's tend to have a longer career when they play for winners. This lost money on draft day can be made up in the right situation. There is a motive for his madness.

I am going on record now. He slips all the way out of the 1st round. In fact, I will be less shocked if he slips to the 3rd round than picked in the 1st round. I say early-mid 22nd round though as my final prediction.

Considering there is no 22nd round, that is quite a prediction Porky. :stirpot:

I agree.

If White is trying this tactic, he's a flake and I wouldn't want him on my team. If true, it shows a tendency towards head games and a lack of dedicated work ethic, IMO.

Agree with most everyone. This is Maurice II. He will fall to us at the 33. His production may get him drafted in the first. But I bet the other coaches are going to let Lendale " pass another biscuit please " White pass on by. They want football players. But they want dedicated football players. Not one who's eaten himself out of millions of dollars and the first round. Once that stone starts to roll, it will gather no moss. If there was colusion in any form and Tags gets wind of it, the Steelers or whomever, will pay a very heavy price. Book it.

Sheftner is reporting also that everyone is starting to shy away from Allen. Even with his work out at the combine, they're afraid of the hip. He also said that Eric Winston's arm's might be too short for a Left Tackle. So he should be there also.
The big question will be what we gonna do @ the two. With our history with our twoes anything is possible. Gonna be fun.

NE yes will take him, but I don't see Indy taking him. I think Indy is going to take the back from LSU, his game is a perfect match for Indy's offensive.

I said it looked fishy for the Steelers the day after the combine.

Unbelievable how people take one showing at a combine where these guys can totally over train before hand and decide that's how a guy will go in the draft. It's like Mario Williams busting his tail for the last 3 games.

Shades of Kelvin Cato playing big for 2 practices to get the 4 year guaranteed deal? Can't be too sure when a guy decides when to turn it on and off.

I don't see LenDale getting past Carolina, Jacksonville, NY Jets, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh, any of those teams could definitely look at taking him, I think he'll end up going to Carolina, boosting their running game is one of their highest priorities.

Lendale has a slight hamstring tear. Steelers think he will be alright by the end of May:

USATODAY LINK

LenDale White of USC paid them a visit the past week and made a favorable impression. Their MRI exam confirmed he has a slight tear in his hamstring but that would not scare them off if he's available at No. 32. They have the luxury of bringing him along slowly, although they think he'll be fully healed by the end of May.
