Yeah, they're ranked 25th now. In an effort to save face, the voters are going to give some props to a team that just knocked off a team that the voters placed at 14th.
Exactly right. The same reason Georgia Tech, TCU, and Notre Dame will rise up this week.

I've got some property in Arizona I can sell you.
This saying is really only effective if you say "oceanfront property in Arizona".

I thought this was joke for awhile. I love vince young and I love texas, but matt leinart is the best player in college football and will be a great QB in the NFL. This really isnt close.

Lots of players could look like the "best player in college football" if they had the coaching, offensive line and skill position players available at USC (not to mention the soft Pac-10 defenses as well). I'm not saying he's not a good player, but I have some questions given his surrounding talent.

He may not even be the best player on his own team ..... :goodnight

The "lesser talent" might hold water if the difference in their records wasn't so vast. Think of it this way: No way in hell does Texas win the Rose Bowl if Reggie McNeal is the starting QB. That performance had very little to do with the talent surrounding him that game. And the thing is, he was doing that all year long and people just brushed it aside..."well yeah, look at all their talent".

you can't really make that statment because you don't know what he would have done in the rose bowl. i agree that he can't make some the runs that vince did, but who knows if mcneil would have been able to sit back and throw the ball around or scramble to get some time instead of just running the second a michigan player blitzed. if troy smith could beat them, then i think mcneil has just as good a shot.

My statement is based off of performances from McNeal under similar situations. For an example, see the UT/A&M game from '04. Once Texas unleashed their defense on him in the 2nd half (one series McNeal was sacked on 3 consecutive plays), he was completely ineffective.

If you watched the Rose Bowl, most of the time Vince was making plays, he was under a lot of pressure. There's a pretty big myth about Texas having a great OL. The truth is, they're a great run blocking OL. But they are just above average in pass blocking.

It's not always about Vince "making runs". He's able to buy himself time by making people miss even when he's still in the pocket. He's completed passes with people hanging on him (see the Roy Williams clip that is posted on this board for proof). Those are plays that Reggie doesn't make. That is a statement I can make because there is physical proof that shows it.

Now if you put Reggie behind a good passing OL and he's on, he will pick you apart. But there are a lot of QBs that can do that. How many can do what Young does?

Write this down: Reggie will be a better pro quarterback than Vince Young.
I already have. If you scroll up (may have to go to the first page), you'll see I posted the same thing some time ago.

But do you think this makes him the better college QB as well?

You sure about that? :)

Can the poll be restarted .... I'd like to see the what people think after this Texas - Ohio game

So do I, so I;m picking Young. See tonight's game for referance...

Young and UT sure didnt beat Ohio on his legs .... It was his arm that made ALL the big plays on the offensive side of the ball . The Ohio defense solved Youngs ground game after the first quarter and MADE him beat them thru the AIR ......He did just that , im convinced Vince is the best player in the country at his position . :tv:

Matt Lionheart for sure he is going to look awsome in a texans uniform. well i hope its time or us to have a real qb.

I had to ban a user so this thread (and a few others on this topic) is probably a bit disjointed (nobody is talking to themselves here). This was his 4th user account so strike 5 and you are out I guess. He was actually posting as two different members in this thread (among others) as well.

fwiw when you get banned your entire post history gets the heave ho with you. It's been a great deterrent.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'll bet you I know who it was. I think that guy had the nerve to make a complaint about me (though I admit it was credible) to another mod. Good job.

I guess when the Ags play SMU next week we'll have a better comparison.

What do you have against the aggies this bad? I'm just a wondering because it seems like you always try to bash them in every way. I'm not trying to start a war here, I just want to make that clear. Your a good poster on this board, just wanted to clear up on why the ags are nothing to you.

I can speak for him, he is very pro-Ags.

I don't understand where you get the idea A&M "is nothing" to me. They're a highly respected academic institution from my home state. I have a lot of friends that are alumns.

When I was a kid, a group of Aggies called "Aggies for Christ" would come to my church for one weekend a year. Each Aggie would be hosted by volunteer families that would take them in for the weekend. So my first impression of them was very favorable. However it came after a family vacation to Austin which got me "hooked" on the Longhorns. :)

As far as "bashing them in every way", where have you seen this? Have I made a post that says "so and so from A&M sucks"? I don't think I have. I believe I've posted, more than once on this thread, that as of now McNeal is a better NFL QB prospect than Young.

Claiming that Reggie McNeal is not a better college QB than Vince Young is not bashing Reggie McNeal. Not everybody can be one of the top players in the country. IMO, Vince Young is...Reggie McNeal is not (although he has a ton of ability and I've given him credit for that). The Aggies may not like that I have a ton of evidence that supports my opinion and that it's shared with a large majority of the country. But again, that's not bashing anybody.
