Leinart Released

Couldn't the Texans re-sign Delhomme at the vet minimum, and have only 1/2 of that count against the cap? I'd rather have Jake at a cap value of $500k than Leinart at $2.5 million.

Yes so long as the deal has no signing bonus (or maybe there is some minimal limit like $25-50k). And I agree.

let's use the cap room we got from cutting leinart to sign Scar-Jo up to be a Texans cheerleader

I already made that joke to her. She said she wasn't interested. And that I should stop calling her. And how did I get her number.

I think most everyone saw this coming. Leinart was bad in his very limited play, Yates out played him, and makes way to much money for a check down QB. This might be the end of his NFL career, maybe he catches on in Canada or Arena League.

I agree. Delhomme looked pretty good against the Titans and imho would make a better and much cheaper backup than Leinart.

As a USC fan, I remember Matt throwing his teammates under the bus after they lost to Vince Young.

Glad to see the clown go.

He isn't the guy he was at USC. He lost his cockiness after being replaced by Warner and and then being cut. He came here humble and worked hard on his game. Seems like he matured and is a better man for it.

Wait! Per Delhomme on Jan. 16th. Does this sound like a guy who wants to come back, much less for the league minimum?

(on where he goes from here) “I’m going to go I-10 East. That’s where I’m going to go. You know what, I’ll be honest with you, you never want to say never, but to end on a note like this, for me, this game of football has been fantastic for me. The NFL’s been awesome and last year, it just wasn’t a fun experience playing up in Cleveland for me, got hurt and just the way things were, the way that things were run, it was just a total disconnect between the front office and the coaches. For me, to come to a place like this where everybody’s on the same page and to see the way these guys work, it’s been great. If I’ve left this game, I’ve left it on a high note. You think about a lot of things coming back last night. My last pass I’ve ever thrown, if this was, was a touchdown, so that’s kind of cool.”

(on him still saying ‘if’ in regards to playing his last season) “I’m being very realistic. I turned 37 last week. I’m not moving my family. I’m not going somewhere to start over. I’m not doing that. This kind of just fell into my lap, so to speak. You certainly don’t think you’re going to get the injuries that this team had. Who knows? If this is the end, which most likely it is, it’s been pretty nice.”

Would love it if Delhomme would come in at vet min to backup for us. I got the impression he made a great coach to TJ, and if Schaub is back starting, TJ's gonna lose out on time with the main coaching staff.

As for Matty L, sorry it didn't work out for him, and I'm grateful he stuck around last season but I don't really think its any loss to us.

I actually hope the long running experiment of paying our backup QB's more than what some starting QB's get is over. Sexy Rexy, DanO, Matty L, all outshone by a 5th round rookie tells me more about the ability of failed starting QB's than it does the ability of 5th round rookies tbh.
