Leadership.

Mean Machine

Waterboy
Back about 1/2 way thru this past 2-14 debacle, on the Vandermere show on 610 one afternoon down at Hooters, Pittman the deep snapper was the Texans guest player on the show, when asked who was the team leader, he stumbled, he stammered and came up with a half way answer that didn't really answer the question. Folks, that says it all right there. The quarterback MUST be the leader of the team, over both offense and defense and special teams, the LEADER. Carr has shown his lack of leadership and it's time to move on to the next chapter in Texans history. Getting sacked and getting back up is not leadership, it's courageus, but not leadership. Rallying his team to victory is. It;s time to do what ever it takes to make this happen for Vince Young to become the leader of the 2006 and beyond Texans.
Thanks

It all starts with leadership, and stats dont make you a leader, and Carr has had 4 years to develop into a leader, and zero results. Good post!

That isn't necessarily true.

Marshall Faulk was the leader of the Rams during the late 90's. Ray Lewis was/is the leader of the Ravens. I would bet that Jerome Bettis is considered more of a leader than Big Ben. A quarterback does not have to be the leader of the team.

I'm so glad people aren't making new posts about Vince Young and Reggie Bush and just adding them to the hundreds of other posts. Wait a second...

Or about Carr's leadership.

I don't think we can acturally say anything new anymore until there is more information from the Texans like who is going to be our new HC.

"Possibly the greatest talent to come out of college from the QB position ever." - "Unbelievable raw talent, has great upside." - "There may never be another one like him." - Vince Young, right? Wrong. All of these statemants wre made about Michael Vick prior to the 2001 NFL Draft, don't tell me there will never be another Vince Young type, because there will be.

That's not true at all. Ray Lewis is the leader on the Ravens and was so when the Ravens went to the Super Bowl. The team leader is the guy who pulls the team together during tough times -- whether it's the QB or somebody else. And no, it doesn't have to be the QB. It's usually the guy who performs the best on the field and shows some intestinal fortitude. Unfortunately, those essentials were missing entirely this year. I believe Walker has tried to be the guy, and there's nothing wrong with that -- nor is it a black mark against Carr.

I don't know how that will make anything more clear.

Any bets on who the next great scrambling quaterback hype is gonna be? My money on Troy Smith, OSU. Fact is, there is always another player.

Troy Smith is going to revolutonize the position of QB. With his MAD SKILLZ he's going to change the game FOREVER! He's got IT,THAT, and THAT OTHER THING and he's got them ALL AT THE SAME TIME!

He is THE ULTIMATE WEAPON!

I say if we're stupid enough to draft Vince Young then next year when we're picking #1 again we make the move and PICK TROY SMITH! We can trade both Carr and Young to make room for this PHENOMENAL TALENT can't we? YES the cap hit will be big but I'm telling you guys it's completely worth it. DID I MENTION THAT HE'S THE ULTIMATE WEAPON?

Didn't say it would be clearer, just that this and many other subject about Reggie, Vince, David, and leadership have been thoughly hashed out.
