Kubiak's Next Destination

Well there is that.

In all seriousness I wish Kubiak good luck. Maybe he will be a better HC with Elway having control over the final 53. He was in over his head here. I cant wait to see how next yrs Kubiak vs Belichick matchup turns out. Especially if it's in primetime.

Man it's getting hot in here tonight.

Kubiak will be a better coach without 53 man control. And if he gets some guidance on coaches to hire as in the best you can find instead of the buddy plan things could go really well. Something McNair should've consider doing instead of firing Kubiak after having a temper tantrum on the flight home from Jacksonville.

We'll guess he isn't getting that guidance you spoke of. He just hired Rick Denison as his OC and another one of his ex Texans coaches. The good ole boy network is alive and well. Wonder if he'll hire his old friend the special teams coach? That will be really telling.

In Denver, I'm sure he can hire the best of the best. Being here in Houston I doubt he could have attracted anyone of consequence. They'd have gone on to better jobs without a connection to Kubiak.

Of course that's changed with a guy like Jj Watt on defense. Before that, just like the big FAs, "known" coordinators weren't coming to Houston.

I've started to create my own conspiracy theory.

With the current front office structure (Smith), McNair realizes we will never rise up to the level of the top teams in the AFC. So he has sent Kubiak on a secret mission to infiltrate all of our top competition and implement his system there to bring them down to our level. Then he hired O'Brien so that we could have NE south up and running by the time Brady retires. :spin:

Championship.

Did you read my post above? He's already hired rick dennison and bother former assistant from his texans staff.

Kubes being coronated right now on NFLN.

Thanks Ravens, thanks family, thanks Bowlen family...

Proud to be back home, part of Bronco nation...

Understands expectations -- SB -- and ready to get to and comfortable with the work.

Have talked to Peyton a few times, more planned. His time, his decision.

Specifically avoids Houston having SB expectations -- "established expectations there"

Gary really holding back smiles during this presser.

Health is good, probably ran myself into the ground too much --> stroke.

Going to fit offense best to our players.

Treat players fairly, you don't treat them equally.

Actually we did the contract in about 5 minutes.

Very comfortable knowing John's office is right next door and he's in charge.

Kubiak garnering some laughter as he reminisces about the first time he threw alongside Elway: “I called home, knew I had no chance”.
Kubiak says he loves calling the plays. In other words, yes, he will call the plays. He and Manning may have to fight over that one.

Kubes being coronated right now on NFLN.

Said he learned more from the 2-14 season AND from watching Ozzie and Harbaugh on how to run a successful organization.

"we're going to run the Denver Broncos' offense, not the Gary Kubiak offense"

Yes! when asked when he made the decision to fire Kubiak, Bob responded, on the plane ride home last night and he was still visibly upset at the press conference to fire Kubiak.

He should have been mad at himself for not pulling that trigger a few seasons earlier when Kubiak admitted at the end of the season that he was out of ideas. Instead he hires Wade to fix the defense. While that experiment had limited success it ultimately failed. That experiment being can solid coordinator talent cannot overcome a weak HC.

Neither of whom were a problem. His assistant coach problems were DC and special teams (and special teams may have been a McNair problem since he was a Capers hire with a hard luck story).

Since I find myself living smack-dab in the MIDDLE of Broncos country, something is bothering me with the reasoning behind firing Fox and bringing in Kubiak.

The narrative up here is that they fired Fox and brought in Kubiak was to "show Peyton that they're serious about getting a good HC to keep him on board for a couple more years."

Problem with this is...
Uh, Peyton spent a down or two against a Kubiak system.

How in the CRAP is that supposed to motivate him to want to stay, under a crappy system that the Colts D picked apart, year after year?

Something doesn't line up...

You're right, the offenses never lined up against one another.

You're way, way beating a dead horse since Manning wanted to come play for Kubiak in Houston.

I had forgotten that he wanted to come and play in Houston for Kubiak.
Read that the other day, but it slipped my memory.

If the new Denver system incorporates the ZBS as well as it worked in Baltimore, Peyton can save wear & tear on his aging arm.
Remember how Elway got his two rings? On the legs of Terrell Davis.
Anyway, that's my conspiracy theory :tinfoil:. If you don't like it, get yer own.

No idea about this writer and his sources/speculation but sounds like Kubiak was akin to the Wade hire for the Texans:

As for the Ravens, they have a big hole to fill. The advice here is for general manager Ozzie Newsome to actively participate in the search like he did a year ago. No offense to Harbaugh, but he hasn't been great in hiring assistant coaches.

Harbaugh was forced into hiring Kubiak, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions in team history. Fans in Baltimore finally saw a real offense, one that was well developed and schemed.

Also, does anyone remember if they ever said Dennison was calling plays here because it sure sounds like in Denver Kubiak is planning on calling the plays with Dennison at OC?

Not sure where you even stand honestly.

Go back to the first page of this thread. I said a year ago that Kubiak is Norv Turner 2.0. Mediocre head coach who is just appealing enough to keep getting hired. Marty Schottenheimer is the king of these types of coaches. No surprise at all that he's been hired by someone else.

You, on the other hand, were straight up calling people out for thinking such a thing. You stated, and I quote to get it right, "I think that people are seriously on something if they actually think that Kubiak is going to get any kind of HC jobs any time soon. "

You also said in that same rant: "Not even the Broncos would have hired Kubiak if Manning and Fox weren't there. Kubiak might get an OC job in a year or two, but I wouldn't expect that in this off season. I highly doubt that Kubiak will ever get another HC job again."

Just man up and admit you were wrong. We've all been there, but the difference is that most of us do not get belligerent in order to avoid eating crow.

As far as the rest of your rant, I honestly stopped reading when my eyes get crossed. Absolutely no offense intended, but it becomes one long run-on sentence after awhile. You start babbling on about comparing spousal abuse to being a football fan and my logic circuits begin to shut down from lack of use.

maybe you're the foolish one for being optimistic in light of the 12 year record.

Yeah, silly me, just enjoying being a football fan instead of some shallow egghead who lives vicariously through an entertainment medium that I have no control to influence in the slightest.

Look, pal, I know my place in this particular food chain. Have you figured out that all your armchair-GM wannabe act leaves you in the same place as me? That would be WATCHING the games, not actually impacting them in the slightest.

So go ahead and be negative about all of it. Sometimes you even amuse us, and when it comes to entertainment, you serve a purpose by doing so.

As is usually the case, folks are pretty good at demeaning and name calling until someone does the same to them. Then the hair on their neck gets a little ruffled. With these folks, as is usually the case, what is good for goose isn't always good for the gander.

You say that like your words have meaning to me. I am neither ruffled nor am I calling you names. Just telling it like I see it.

Do you deny being an armchair-GM? Your post history reveals otherwise.

And then you attempt to berate me for the occasional optimism as a football fan. What is your point? Why does it matter to YOU if another fan is optimistic? Why do you feel the inherent need to tear people down with your act?

Can't you just have a talk about football without the grandstanding and even come to a point to agree to disagree?

All rhetorical questions, of course. I expect no honest conversation in return.

you mean like what a fan forum should be?

Denver Post Broncos @PostBroncos
Kubiak on calling plays: 'It's something I've been doing my whole career. I love it. But my expectations are to have people around me calling games.

Sometimes being a play-caller, you get a little tunnel vision and I can't do that again. But I will be involved."

I think Manning wanted to play for Houston but IIRC Rich Lord did say Kubiak said no. If both of those are true, would Manning be interested in Houston now?

Well, unless the Broncos release him (Which Elway has shown zero intention of doing), it doesn't really make any difference where he's interested in playing. Also, I put zero stock in the "investigative" comments of Rich Lord - if he did in fact say that.

Gary Kubiak will have to move on in search for DC... #Broncos have been informed Vance Joseph won't be let out of contract with Bengals.
Jeff Legwold ‏@Jeff_Legwold 10m10 minutes ago

#Broncos still hoping for change of heart from #Bengals on Vance Joseph, but they are moving forward w/ work on other candidates for DC. job

Elway saying in so many words he wants Peyton back, and now reports of Peyton saying he wants to come back. Hopefully we will soon stop any speculation regarding Peyton and the Texans.

According to three trustworthy sources, Manning wants to return to the Broncos, but won't and can't make a final decision until he takes an annual physical examination mandated by his contract. Last year, the test results were learned at the beginning of March.

That's pretty sad that Cincy won't let Vance out of his contract to get a promotion.

I would think that Jim Schwartz would be a great fit in Denver as DC.

Vance Joseph has been blocked from being DC. LeBeau is about to sign as LB coach with the Cardinals. Wonder who is next up?

When you call someone foolish that's fine and not name calling. When someone does the same to you you get rather irate.

Reading comprehension might work for you...if you tried it. Please try to keep up next time.

I said that speaking in absolutes makes you look foolish. This is not some deep insight, but a general rule in life. It works against me when I speak in absolutes, as well.

If you consider that name-calling or irate, perhaps this message board is a might tad too mature for your tastes. I'm sure HT.com could release your little ban if you wanted to return to the kiddie pool to boss folks around.

Mike Preston is the resident Skip Bayliss but with more knowledge. Nothing is ever good enough for him.

Dennison didn't call plays here but worked with Joe Flacco a lot on his mechanics of the huddle and the calls at the line.

Congrats to Kubiak- I like how he thanked the Ravens, the coaches the owner of the Ravens in his opening statement. No hard feelings from towards Gary- he came in a did a great job and worked very hard. I wish him luck.

Trestman will continue the offensive growth for the Ravens....

Do you think the Ravens will try to re-sign Owen Daniels? He was on NFLN's Total Access last night, and I didn't realize that he only had a one year deal with Baltimore. I would not be shocked to learn that the Broncos are trying to sign him.

It was hard to choose for the Ravens and the Pats this year, since I'm a fan of both, but good luck next season and hopefully your team and ours will be meet in the AFC championship game. :swatter:
