So who will it be?

"I have no idea," Kubiak said. "We'll get a good player. I know that."

They're not tipping their hand -- but the signs point to Bush.

Kubiak attended Young's workout last week in Austin, and came away impressed. He and the rest of the Texans brass will attend Bush's workout this Sunday in Los Angeles, and have dinner with him the night before. Those two appear to be the choices, although USC quarterback Matt Leinart is also a possibility, as is a trade down.

Coming off a 2-14 season in 2005, the Texans fired coach Dom Capers. That record earned them the top pick, and it earned them a new coach in Kubiak, a home-grown product of the state and the former offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos.

In Denver, Kubiak played behind and coached John Elway. He also coached Jake Plummer the past two seasons, and Plummer grew into a Pro Bowl quarterback.

Kubiak knows a thing or two about that position. That's why his evaluation of Carr will likely be what determines who the Texans take. And judging by the comments Kubiak made here at the league's winter meetings, you get the idea Bush is the leader in the clubhouse.

Kubiak sounds as if he likes Carr -- a lot.

That could be why the Texans exercised the three-year, $8 million option they had with Carr last month. That means he will be around at least for this year, but Kubiak talks as if it will be longer.

...There's more. Good read.

Here's some more from NFL.com

HOUSTON IN L.A.

When the USC Trojans hold their Pro Day on April 2 in Los Angeles, expect a batch of Texans officials to be in attendance.

For starters, Texans owner Bob McNair will be there, as will new head coach Gary Kubiak and general manager Charley Casserly. And the Texans will do more than observe Bush. They will be getting to know him up close and personal.

The Texans are scheduled to have dinner with Bush the night before his workout. Then, they plan to bring Bush to Houston later in April.

But before Bush visits Houston, Longhorns quarterback Vince Young will visit first. He is tentatively scheduled to visit the Texans on April 6.

No matter how well Young's visit goes, it would be a monumental upset if he were able to do enough to unseat Bush as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

There's going to be another Bush taking office in Texas.

My prediction is that by the time that Bush leaves Houston in mid/late April, he will have a tentative contract in hand

A misleading thing about the Texans being at Vince's workout here in Austin...It was also a workout for the rest of the Longhorns in the draft.

Like I said before, I hope that Vince's workout for the Texans is just them wishing him a good career OUTSIDE of Houston. I really think that the FO is enamored with Reggie & that will be the pick. Especially after Pro Day this Sunday.:ok:
