Kubiak gets high praise from former pupil now in 3rd Pro Bowl !

"I’m over here, right?” Smith asked Thursday after the AFC’s third practice of the week. “Seriously, I wouldn’t have been here three times and I wouldn’t have won two Super Bowls without him. He’s an amazing coach and he’s probably a better friend to me and my family.
“I’m just so happy for him. They got a great guy. If they somebody who knows Xs and Os, knows personnel and knows how to find a way to put the ball in the end zone, then they got the right guy.”

This kind of praise coming from a pro bowler and guy with 2 SB rings is the
best recommendation I could want about our new HC. Of course we've got
a lot of guys on this Board who are already second guessing some of Kubiak's
decision (of course I'm thinking in particular of his unabashed support of Carr). Like their knowledge of NFL talent is even in the same solar system
with what Kubiak knows.

I agree.

The coaching was the major problem last year. Just getting average coaching would have been a marked improvement. Now we are getting a successful coach (yes, as an OC) who is also bringing a pretty good system with him to Houston. I'm not just talking about Xs and Os, but about how to run a practice, how to get the most out of individual players, etc. For the first time in the last couple of years, there is a high probability that each of our individual players will improve rather than regress. Add in that they'll learn how to play as a coordinated team, and it should be a nice season next year.

I'm sure Capers would get high praise from some players too...not sure it means much though.

They did praise Capers for being a great guy. Finally, some praise for getting the ball into the endzone. I've noticed this weird trend - but it seems that they guys who score more win more.

Here's to hoping Kubes KILLS ALL HITCH PASSES for 1 calendar year and that he can get us into the endzone a little... :)
