Kevin: An idea on how to reward Subscribed Contributors

GP

Go Texans!
What if TexansChick would do some TexansExclusive articles maybe once every 4 months, and only the Subscribed Contributors could get those delivered to their inbox?

Then she could release that same article to the Chronicle a few days later, or maybe even let us have first access to it or something. Even if it was given to us one day prior or even "same day" but 6 or 7 hours ahead of it posting to the Chronicle.

I dunno. Maybe the Chron has a policy against her doing that, just wanted to share and idea for incentives to be a paid subscriber to your mb.

I'm still waiting on the donuts they promised me.

They were talking about an inflatable donut for you to use because of your hemorrhoids, Thorn.

They didn't send it because they figured AARP already sent you one.

:joker:

Did TC agree to this, or was she just thrown out there?

Huh?

I dunno. I was just thinking "out loud" about how it would be neat to reward the paying subscribers here by letting those members have early access to her blog articles. Or to have her craft some TexansExclusive articles maybe a couple or three times a year. Sort of like ESPN Insider.

Oh wait...uh, I'm really pissed off and hurt and feeling rejected and I'm gonna sue. (Need to pad my retirement fund.)

Any good lawyers out there?

How do you know if someone is a subscriber? I donate $5/month through PayPal....are there any "perks" that come with that that I am not aware of?

Not complaining, as I just see it as a small contribution to keep the site going, but if there are perks, I'd like to know! :ant:

Its easy to just volunteer others to do work for you...nice.

Meaning what?

Hint: This is one of those times where I think I know what you mean, but I want to get clarification anyway.

To me, I don't think it's asking anything that overwhelming. Hell, pay her from the funds. And it would be a rare thing, not a weekly deluge of articles. Not even once-per-month. 2, maybe 3 per year. Something really good and really unique that could reward subscribers.

How would you need clarification? You offered someone else's work to reward other people. If you wanted to make an offer why dont you do the work instead of offering other's work up? Again if the Chron pays her for her work Im sure they would mind if she passed out the work ahead of time

It means you are being a pig-headed, inconsiderate jerk. I'm still floored that you offered someone else's personal time up. How rude!

I don't think we should get anything unless the site is profitable. ( Except, of course, for the dancing girls that were promised if I entered a monthly subscription. )

pm Hookem Horns and he will get you a fancy blue name.

Let him know your username and name on the paypal account.

That is an awfully kind thing to suggest. Because some people might not like my articles inflicted on their inbox.

There's no policy against it from the Chronicle as far as I know, but oof, the logistics. That, and I think that people should want to be Subscribed Contributors here out of the goodness of their own hearts. For the intrinsic goodness of it. That it makes them feel good to support something awesome.

At least that's what I tell my kids about why they don't need to receive rewards for getting good grades. That I'm proud of them, but that they need to be proud of themselves because nobody going to be around all the time giving them gold stars when they do good things.

However, for all Subscribed Contributors, I will do a dance in your general direction. Ta da! ->

I wanna see that "dance" in person, this Sunday in Blue Crew!! :chickendance:

Are you for real???

LOL. I think all I did was suggest an idea, if suggesting an idea is equal to making her do something...then color me baffled.

And by the way, Kevin ASKED us to give ideas about what he could do to incentivize the paid subscriber service.

If anybody got red-assed by my mere suggestion, then so be it. I was only offering a suggestion. I never intended to be equated with being insensitive to other people's time.

Maybe some of you shouldn't take up offenses, especially on someone else's behalf, so easily. Oh well, such is life.

TC, I meant nothing but "honor" in terms of my suggestion. I felt like you started your journalistic efforts here, and it would have been cool to have some of your stuff hit our site prior to it hitting the Chronicle's page. Not every single time, just every now and then.

When I have good stuff, I tend to put a link up here shortly after it goes live.

Not sure it would be great sending emails of stuff, because the best part of my blog posts are often the links, which would only show up if the blog post was live. I write the blog posts in the blog software.
