Kayvon Thibodeaux or Travon Walker

Of the two who do you like better & why?

do you think the Texans should draft either, if so around which pick?

Which, of the two do you think will be drafted first?

Barring injury, which will have the more prolific career?

Kayvon for all 3 of the questions …and im not even a big fan of Kayvon im just more weary of guys like Walker that shoot up draft boards after the combine.

you see the raw tools on tape more for Kayvon anyway and theres a place for an athlete like him as a pass rush specialist in any defense. I feel like Walker has to be in a specific type of defense for him to be what his measureables say he could be.

My comp to Kayvon is Mack. He was injured early in the season after looking phenomenal.

Besides injury his biggest impediment has been choosing the right agent/managing agency. I would have recommended shutting down his season early and seeking medical advise for surgery/repair to improve strength and durability. He is now signed with Klutch S.G. working with Athletic Gains.

No doubt he is unique. Both on and off the field. People are more scared of his floor (bust potential) than his ceiling (All-Pro). So each measured as one sees fit, but have seen him explode and on the QB quick as the football gets Snapped. He’s far more twitchy and explosive than Hutch. Trayvon is all around, complete DE. Thibodeaux is ideal edge 3-4 OLB.

Should come down to best team fit. Edge pass rusher usually wins out.

Kayvon Thibodeaux or Travon Walker

do you think the Texans should draft either, if so around which pick? NO...I see Travon as the better player, but more of a fit as a 3/4 DE. I just don't think Kayvon is a good fit for the Texans.

I answered above. There is just something I don't like about KT. In a way, he kind of reminds me of Clowney, and I always thought Clowney was overrated.

I choose Travon because I see Kayvon as a one trick pony, 3-4 OLB lining up as a 7 technique. That's all he's ever done. Travon is the better athlete and coaches can use him in a number of ways, Travon has shown he can play the 0,1, 3,4,5,7and 9 techniques, drop in coverage, Travon has the speed to cover TE and RBs coming out of the backfield, play a 3-4 DE or OLB; and a 4-3 DE and OLB. He would be ideal in Wade's 5-2.

Just watched a video where Lance Zierlein said he thinks Walker will go #1 overall to the Jags.
He said it will be reflected in his next mock.
I hope he's right.

As it relates to this thread, I'd take Kayvon, no doubt. As it pertains to the draft, I'd rather someone else (not Walker) at #3.

If I want a guy that I think can excel as a pass rush specialist but who won't be on my team beyond his first contract I'll take Kayvon.

If I want an all-around multi-purpose DE that can be a strong core piece for the next 8+ years I'll take Travon.

I don't think I want either of those options at #3 though.

If Walker is all that, won't be expensive to keep also?
Thibodeaux can also play DE in an even front.
"A former five-star recruit out of Thousand Oak, California, who attended Oak Christian High School, Thibodeaux and raised in the Southern part of Los Angeles, Thibodeaux was the second-ranked prospect, behind Georgia DE Nolan Smith in the 2019 recruiting cycle, and he was the 49th all-time ranked player in the 247-Sports database."

I'm not concerned with the money.

And I don't think Kayvon will be nearly as effective as a DE in an even front. Disagree if you like, no biggie.

Also don't know what including his high school profile has to do with anything, but ok.

Pretty much this.

I would like to add Trayvon is a football 1st kinda guy. Kay on has already let it be known that he's a brand 1st kinda guy. The Calhoun's have flushed their org of these types of guys and I hope they don't go back to drafting them again.

If Walker goes #1 and Hutch #2, I hope Neal is the pick. If Sauce is the pick my feelings won't be hurt

I believe Clowney was, and Thibodeaux is built to be better protected coming off the end of a 4-3 front. I believe the same would’ve been true for JJ Watt as well. If it is Thibodeaux at 3…..then I’ll be fine with the pick, may not be the one I truly wanted but I’ll accept the choice.

It would be a gift if Hutchinson falls to #3 and Texans would be fools to bypass him if there.
Trouble is, I think he goes #1.
I imagine trade offers will happen if he makes it to #3.

Funny thing is Hutch is probably the least talented in a purely athletic sense but the least likely to bust ,and we all know the
tacit comparison is to that iconic big blond-headed pass-rusher also coming out of the Big Ten who now plays NFL ball in the desert so no wonder Texans' fans are clamoring to draft Hutchison..
I dunno what to think about Thib but I know one poster in these parts compared him to former Broncos-Cowboys great edge rusher Demarcus Ware. Wow could he be as good as Ware ?

This is where I'm at.

Thibodeaux has talent. I just don't want guys with his attitude being a leader of the team during the rebuild.

Why wouldn't Thibodeaux last longer than one contract?

I think he's certainly talented enough to get a second deal.

I just don't see his 'brand' model playing out in any one location for more than his first contract.

Like being a part of a building a championship culture on one squad just doesn't appear to be a priority for his career.

Obviously I'm projecting in a big way here, but so goes the draftnik thing..
