Kaiser Toro's 1st Mock

Kaiser Toro

Native Mod
Just to get my work in progress, mock draft up.

1st Brian Orakpo DE - also on my radar here are Mays S and Maualuga LB

2nd Clay Matthews LB - maybe a reach here, but I want another gamer on the defensive side of the ball - also on my radar are Chase Coffman TE and Patrick Chung S.

3rd - Myron Rolle SS - I am interested to see where he goes, based on how he orchestrates his Rhodes Scholar and pending declaration for the draft. We would have to wait for his services, but it would be worth it. Also on my radar are Charles Scott RB and Domonique Johnson CB

4th - Alex Boone OL - Big, not bad feet, potential swing tackle. Also on my radar are on Ron Brace DT and AQ Shipley C.

5th - Rashad Jennings RB - I have a feeling he performs very well in the Senior Bowl/Combine and moves up considerably. Also considering Henry Melton DE and Ramses Barden WR

6th - Henry Melton DE - I have a feeling that he will be a terrific pass rushing specialist with the right Dline coach.

7th - Sammie Lee Hill DT - Space eating project from small school. Quan Cosby will be on my radar here as well.

I would love Orakpo but I doubt he will be there at 15. He is going to put up monster combine numbers.

Glad someone else is high on Clay Mathews

So it's not a mock draft but a wish list ?

At this point everything is a mock/wish list given that the season is not over, declarations have not been made and staffs on the pro side have not been finalized. Until then, this is, as stated, a work in progress.

He never said anything about taking him at 15th. for all we know, we traded Sage, Moats, and Myers to move up to 4

2-3 of your 7 are from UT. Kinda leaning heavily on what you saw this season aren't you?

Hardly, who does not have Orakpo as one of the top lineman? Melton is a project that converted from RB to DE, not a heavy investment in the 6th round. Cosby, I believe will be a terrific pro regardless where he goes. For us, he could take over duties for Jacoby Jones on PR and potentially KR for Davis. Cosby catches everything and knows the life of a professional. Most likely an undrafted FA, but I would spend a 7 on him.

Moreover, 3 of my top 4 are from USC. I got small school players in there, 2 ACC players, Big Ten players. Holy mother of God you are right, I am leaning heavily on what I saw this season.

Orakpo is a senior so he doesn't have to declare for anything since his college eligibility is exausted and he'll be in the NFL in 2009. In other words he's fair game.
I would also wish to have him on our team, but unless we trade up it ain't gonna happen.

Orakpo is a senior? Appreciate the heads up.

Not sure if you read in a left to right direction or if you are stuck on Orakpo and wishing wells, but there were two other players mentioned as being on the radar should we not trade up for Orakpo, something happens to him before draft day or anyting else that could happen.

4) Kaiser Toro selects - Charles Scott, LSU 5-11 232 3rd. rd.

then in your 1st Mock take
5th - Rashad Jennings RB - I have a feeling he performs very well in the Senior Bowl/Combine and moves up considerably.

which is it? by the way

8) Mari-OWNED! selects - Rashad Jennings, Liberty 6-1 232 4th. rd..

& others feel he might not even last til the 4th?

Two different threads. Please let me call your attention to the following:

3rd - Myron Rolle SS - I am interested to see where he goes, based on how he orchestrates his Rhodes Scholar and pending declaration for the draft. We would have to wait for his services, but it would be worth it. Also on my radar are Charles Scott RB and Domonique Johnson CB

I can easily change your pick in the other thread if that is really what you want? just trying to get some clarification :)

Scott and other underclassmen still need to declare, which would have an effect on RB's such as Jennings (not to mention how he performs in the off season). Rolle is a wild card, and may be gone. I am staying pat where I am at this moment.

I am a fan of UT, but I would find it hard to say I pimp UT players in person or on this board in the past or present. Please feel free to show me otherwise.

1st Brian Orakpo DE - also on my radar here are Mays S and Maualuga LB

2nd Clay Matthews LB - maybe a reach here, but I want another gamer on the defensive side of the ball - also on my radar are Chase Coffman TE and Patrick Chung S.

I don't like it because Clay Matthews has long hair .... JK . It would get Bruce rooting for the Texans .

I wouldnt care about 2-7 if we got Orakpo in the first.

Rolle would be a great pick but we will have to see if he even wants to play football.

Rashad Jennings would be a great start to our own version of earth wind and fire but you might have to take him with your 3rd round pick like you are thinking might happen.

Melton would be fun to see as a Texan. We could also throw him in as a power FullBack/pass catcher on the goal line. :)

Good Stuff.

Not a bad Mock draft Kaiser I would make a few changes but not bad at all.

1st RD. DE - Aaron Maybin or Everette Brown ( One of them will slide )

2nd RD. OLB - Marcus Freeman - Brings Speed and big play ability.

3rd RD. WR - Brian Robiskie - OSU 6-3 199 4.50

4th RD. RB - Arian Foster Tennessee 6-1 215 4.55

5th RD. DT - Roy Miller - Texas 6-2 305

6th RD. DT - DE - Kirston Pittman - L.S.U. 6-4 254 4.70

7th RD. QB - Rudy Carpenter - Arizona St. 6-3 220 4.90

7th RD. QB - Rudy Carpenter - Arizona St. 6-3 220 4.90

Not really aimed at you but at all the folks sticking a QB into the draft. What is the reasoning here? Oh, he is a development project. And then next year when he is developing but hasn't hit the field and has faded into obscurity I guess we draft another development project? Geez, folks will give development project 1st day picks 2-3 years to shine and you can't wait for a couple years on a late round, never hits the field guy to simmer on the stove developing instead of picking a guy that might contribute. Never get it. I'd rather trade a 7th for Kevin Walter, pick a Zach Diles, take a flyer on a big legged punter, etc. QB especially makes no sense for a team that will not protect a 3rd QB on the regular roster so he will be exposed on the practice squad.

I agree with this SO much.

One games does not make or break a player, but Orakpo was flat, Boone I felt was terrific, Melton played well and Cosby, was doing things he did all year.

We are both UT fans so feel free to disagree with any of this. Here goes my analysis of our pro prospects:

WR - Quan Cosby. I would go as far as to say he has the best hands in college football. His age (26 or 27?) will cause him to slide and may even cause him to go undrafted. I have a feeling someone grabs him in the 6th.

OG - Cedric Dockery. He's nothing special, but he has always been a solid player for us. I would project him as a 5th round pick.

DE - Brian Orakpo. Everyone knows this name. Concensus top 10 pick. Has all the tools plus the work ethic to succeed in the NFL.

DE - Henry Melton. After proving to be a very disappointing RB he moved to DE. Athletically, it's all there. Overall, he does not play the position that well, but a good coach would change that. He has only played two years at DE. He is a fine pass rusher and a stout tackler. But he is easily confused and has a hard time filling his gap or keeping contain against the run. 4th or 5th round.

DT - Roy Miller. Big Roy made himself a lot of money in the Fiesta Bowl. He was disruptive all night. He looks like a 3-4 man but he has the athletic ability to be a pocket collapser(sp?) in the 4-3 as well. 3rd round.

I could see teams taking a chance in UDFA on Ogbonnaya (as a FB) and Bobino.

I like these two. The book ends were unimpressive to me. Im not a hater, but I would never take a UT guy in the 1st. They have been...inconsistant to say the least.

I hope your thoughts are picked up by others as well. That is exactly the type of standard that I am hoping is applied and allows Orakpo to drop to 15.

I hope they dont. He doesnt impress me in the least bit, and until one of the UT high draft picks pull their heads out of their hindparts, Ill pass. Just too inconsistant to depend on. The later round guys look solid.

What was the name of the Ohio St. RDE--the one that drew two flags (one of them BS)? He was hammering UT's LT all night long.

I believe you're referring to redshirt sophomore Thaddeus "Who's your Thaddy" Gibson. He's a converted OLB who began playing DE exclusively this season. Definitely a name for next year's draft.
