I've been watching the VT-Virgina game and VUs DE Chris Long, son of former
Raider & ESPN analyst Howie, has been getting a lot of hype. Then somebody
covering the game (sounded like AW), said he had "12 SACKS" for the year.
Anyway, I checked their website and sure enough, he's credited with 12 sacks. What's the big deal ? Hey these guys run a 3-4, and usually the downlineman in a 3-4 aren't sackers, but socalled "space-eaters" & 2-gappers
to free up the ILBs to handle the running plays and the OLBs to provide the pass rush. We learned all of that from the Capers days with his 3-4, right ?
How good would this guy be as a 4-3 DE ? And don't put it past the Texans to draft another downlinman ?
