I vote for Option 3.
I think Bush has the potential to be a special player. But the facts are that any individual football player can get big time injured at any time. There is a lot of money invested in the first pick, money that can't go other places on the team.
So, that being said, my own preference is to take him unless we get the most amazing deal ever for him. One that involves actual good starters that we need and some great picks.
The reality, and not just my preferences, is that is not likely that any deal will be good enough to satisfy management because of the marketing ability of having Bush on our team. He is probably the only player we could add that would guarantee true wait lists for PSLs, make the Texans at least early in the season, a hot ticket again, and get some excitement for a 2-14 team.
Anyhow, often the debate is no way you take Bush, ya gotta get the picks, or Bush poops gold--but it seems to me that you can acknowledge his potential to be a special player but with that acknowledgement realize that this creates a market for him, one that might cause another team to plum lose their minds creating a deal to get him.
So, in other words, I want whatever situation is the best for the team, and this might not be something we know until draft day.
But what we will know that is whatever the Texans do, there will be a certain segment of the fan base that will be unhappy with it.
